The year is 2163, the Federation was established just 2 years ago. The numbers of species involved in this bold alliance have already tripled. Ships from all member cultures are about the directives of the Federation Council and the member world's interests. But now, the USS Akula is being brought into service. The first ship designed and crewed by Starfleet personel. There are other cross-species staffed ships in service, everything from Vulcan science vessels, to Andorian warships, to Human NX Class explorerers. But this ship is different, the crew is taken from those who have served on a variety of vessels throughout the Federation, the officers have been commissioned due to their knowledge and experience and beginning the first of many Starfleet Vessels to come that will "...explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before..."
