Is this a bug? (non-numerical Attribute entries)

Is the ability to put things other than numbers in Attribute boxes a bug? I really hope not, 'cuz I'm using that a lot and would hate for it to suddenly go away! For example, I have the following attributes set up: M1Name: Longsword M1Bonus: 6 M1Crit: 25(2x) M1Damage: 1d8+5 Then I have the following Ability: M1 @{Name} attacks @{target|name} with his @{M1Name}: [[1d20+@{M1Bonus}]](@{M1Crit}) vs [[@{target|ac}]]! This attack does [[@{M1Damage}]] points of damage if it hits! Which outputs something like: Desmond attacks Minotaur with his Longsword: 22 (25(2x)) vs 19 ! This attack does 7 points of damage if it hits! I'd just like to know for sure that this type of macro isn't gonna break on me any time soon!

It's currently intended to work like that. I myself have used macros in the past, for example with Dungeon World, where I put "d6" or "d8" as an attribute called "AttackDice" so I could make a single macro button to click that rolled the attack dice for the selected token. Works well. The reason we can allow that is because the work of figuring out if the input is a number or text is actually handled by the dice engine. It actually has a pretty tough job because you can input things like: /roll 1d20 + 5 vs AC And it has to figure out that "+ 5" is meant to be added while "vs AC" is a "comment" that just gets passed through. So you may run into issues with that if you get too crazy (for example, you may have to use inline comments) but other than that there shouldn't be any issues. Just pointing out that it's not the *primary* intended behavior, so I can't guarantee you can go totally crazy with it, but what it does right now is something it should always do.
Thanks Riley! Just wanted to make sure, because I'm about to do a huge update to all my campaigns and this is a fairly vital part of it. With the new Rugged Reroll, which I'd been waiting on before I did this, everything is going to work so smoothly and perfectly! I just needed to verify that this wasn't going to go away any time soon before I got it all set up, then had to start over again from scratch! PS: Love Roll20, LOVE the Rugged Reroll, can't wait to see what y'all come up with next! PPS: Happy New Year! (go get a drink on me!)
Phnord, I'd just like to second your PS comments and point out that it reminded me that the best way to show our appreciation is to take on a supporter subscription. Cheers and a Happy New Years to you and Roll20. Thank you devs! :)
