I’m a veteran player of about 15 years and I am in the
market for at least one new game, though I might consider more than one if I
can find some that I am interested in. My preferred rulesets/themes are as
follows:
Warhammer 40K
- Only War
- Death Watch
- Black Crusade
- Dark Heresy 1 or 2
Warhammer Fantasy, 2 nd
Edition
World of Darkness :
- Hunter, the Vigil
Dungeons and Dragons
- Fifth Edition
- Pathfinder or 3.5
Shadowrun
These are the games that I am familiar with and have played fairly extensively.
My goal is to find a text-based game that has 3-5 other players and the GM and begins between 5:30pm and 7:30pm CST
aka GMT-6, I believe. I anticipate a game to run about four hours.
I am more than happy to consider other games if they sound appealing, but I am
very interested in dark, gritty sci-fi and fantasy settings. Some modern
settings might be okay. Low-powered themes are better than others in which the
characters/players are or are not incredibly powerful compared to the rest of
the world but despite their great strength/ability are still not a major
driving force.
For example, even a level 18 D&D character is still not some god-among-men
or anything in their setting, or the Death Watch marine or Dark Heresy
inquisitor fights against futility and everything they do feels like it has no
more impact than to perhaps barely maintain the status quo of the world.
A big bonus for horror-survival themes with zombies or zombie-like entities
will be applied to my consideration. Mature and 18+ themes are acceptable and
sometimes appreciated. No kiddie gloves for me!
