Questions re Fog & Maps from Sunless Citadel

Here is my problem: I don't know how to properly use the maps that come with Sunless Citadel to allow my characters to 1) place their tokens on the map, and 2) reveal the map to them as they progress through the area, and 3) how to make the hidden monsters appear at the right times. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

For placing characters, you can either drag them in to start things off (grab their name in the journal), or you can ping (or Shift-Ping to pull their focus) and have them drag their own characters into that spot. If you're using Fog of War (you have Fog of War checked: https://wiki.roll20.net/Page_Settings#Fog_of_War ), you would reveal sections of the map with the reveal tools: https://wiki.roll20.net/Fog_of_War as you like. If you're using Dynamic Lighting (which it should be setup for, don't have Fog of War checked), then the token's will reveal what they can see. You can select them and hit ctrl-L (or cmd-L on mac) to see what they can see.
Thanks, Aaron. A couple of things. First, one problem might have been that I was using dynamic lighting AND had fog of war checked. Besides that, though, my players found that they could not drag their own tokens over...some were using laptops and others were using the tablet app and I wonder if the latter was causing a problem! When I dragged them all over myself, one of them could see the map and the others could not. In fact, one of them could see the map, and one could see nothing but the fogged blackness, but the other two could see their own respective token and the token of he player who could see the map but noone else! Very strange! I also could not figure out how to get the hidden monsters to appear! I cycled through different layers and tried moving tokens of both monsters and pkayers through different layers to see if I could get them to see each other, but that didn't work.

Oh! I forgot to mention about monsters. If the Players can't see them, they're on the GM layer. Select them on the GM layer and you can move them to the Objects layer with a shortcut key, or by right clicking and changing the layer via the menu. See: https://wiki.roll20.net/Layers Probably they are grabbing the token and dragging that, which won't work. They have to grab the name. That IS very strange. Make sure you dragged them all to the Objects layer. Make sure Fog of War is off, and verify their light settings. Worst case, send me a PM invite and GM me and I'll come take a look.
A few things: You probably have Restrict Movement checked in the Page Settings. This is a good thing. But it does mean that players cannot drag their tokens over Dynamic Lighting lines. I suggest placing PC tokens for them when you go to a map. Sounds like some of the player tokens have light settings in the Advanced/Emits Light section of the token window and others do not. A player must have control over a token to see what it sees. Otherwise the screen will be all black. Currently, Dynamic Lighting does now show where you've been. Only what tokens you have control of can currently see. That will change in a future update. There are ways around it, but that's a topic for another thread.
Thanks to both of you for all the great advice! I will try these out on Monday and come back with any issues if there are any left.
Thanks again for the help here! I have turned off Fog of War and allowed only Dynamic Lighting now. I have the players' tokens on the board. When I use ctrl-L I find that they each only see all black. Each token is tied to a character (the bubbles fill with the appropriate numbers), so they should be "controlled" by the characters, but I still only see black. I have also added a 60' aura to each, but that hasn't done anything except show me, as GM, the circle of their aura. When I use ctrl-L I still just see black.
Does the token have the 'Has Sight' checkbox checked?
Ok, one more detail. I have ticked the box that says "emits light" assuming this means the character has a torch. This appears to make the area visible! Woohoo!! If this is the correct fix, then the next question is - what do you do with creatures who have darkvision and don't carry torches?
Hot dog, I believe I have it working!! Thank you all for your help! With the comments you all left here, and a bit of googling for details, I now have the tokens each having their own dynamic lighting fields, AND I can bring monsters out of hiding so the players can see them! Vastly improved! This site is amazing!
