Sure, Numenera is set in the Ninth World - Earth, 1 billion years in the future. It's a mix of post-apocalyptic and futuristic Sci-Fi setting. Gameplay wise, it's a streamlined, story-driven system in which all actions are completed the same way - a roll of a single 20-sided die. Players roll a dice trying to reach a target number that beats the task's difficulty level. So if you are trying to break down a door, manipulate a strange piece of technology (called numenera) or any other task, you roll a 20-sided die. The average difficulty level is a 9 or higher. So if you roll a 10 or above, you succeed at your task. Some things are more difficult than others. Your specific character traits (strength, speed and intelligence) can help bring down the difficulty level by applying Effort. So want to make that door easier to break down? Put some effort into by spending some of your strength and now you have to roll higher than a 6 (as oppose to a 9) to succeed. And that's basically it. Character creation will be quick and easy. I'll do most of the lifting there, you just create your character statement. The way characters are created in Numenera is basically a sentence. You put together a character statement by saying: "I am a (descriptor) (type) that (focus)." So you'll tell me something like: “I am a clever nano who crafts illusions.” (Nano is basically a Wizard). And i'll put together the character sheet and info. I'll PM signed up players with character details before the session and get the characters all set up. More details about the game can be found here: http://www.numenera.com For my part as a GM, i like to make the game as approachable and easy to play as possible. The group i play with at the table now, they didn't even know what a PnP RPG was. They picked it up no problem.
