Panning Snap

Hey, I was wondering; why does the map sort of 'snap' whenever you move it to a border? This is especially the case on small maps and a bit annoying. Thanks in advance.

The maps by default have the grid enabled and the map boards are hard coded to snap to grid. You have to disable the grid to remove the snap.
Hold ALT when you drag something and it won't snap to grid.

true I forgot about that.
You can also right click and set the map to IsDrawing and that turns off snap to grid for that map too.

Thank you for the replies, but I think you misunderstood. I was referring to the very sudden acceleration change when the camera moves to the grey textured area, outside the map. Not when you drag objects, just the panning itself
Never had that problem...

Is this with a mobile device like a tablet or phone?

I know nothing about macbooks
I know the problem he's talking about. I think. Happens on my Win7 PC as well. When changing the size of the map to smaller-than-the-size-of-the-workspace, the map tends to seek an edge of the workspace to snap to. In other words, a 25x25 grid at 100% fills the workspace and extends beyond on all sides. The same grid at 50% may be located within the workspace, with unused space on all sides (space not filled by the grid), allowing the map to be moved around within the workspace. The same grid, at 70% (for example), is only slightly smaller than the workspace. When it is moved, it tends to try to align itself to one side or another of the workspace's edge, often the side bounding the chat window. In doing so, it seems to move very quickly on its own, seeming to pull itself away from the cursor that is holding it, for want of a better term. In addition, I have seen it seemingly add extra grid lines to fill the space, such that a 25x25 grid may in fact appear as 25x27 in order to align itself. ...is that what you meant, Dieter T? PS: On second thought, I haven't seen this lately, or if I have I haven't been paying attention to it, so that may be fixed. I'm experimented out right now so I'm not gonna go check.
Exactly, Phnord :) It's not TOO obtrusive I suppose, but it's still worth mentioning as it's happened to me on multiple occassions.
