I have looked over the advantages of using the API scripting and see the benefits, but I have got to tell you my intel bonus on this kind of thing is low.Very low. Should this be something I even consider messing with or should I just leave it to the pro's? becoming a mentor isn't an issue at all its whether someone like me can use it.

This is javascript or very similar so it depends on how comfortable you are with script writing or willing to learn. I will be learning visual basic in this coming semester so I hope I can take what skills I'm learning and apply it here.

Yes it is Javascript, you can figure most stuff out by just looking at scripts similar to what you want to do.
