How do I demote myself from the GM position?

I created a campaign while my group was waiting for a GM, and now that he's shown up, I can't give him the full GM privileges as I am also still a GM despite having promoted him to GM. Is there any way for me to leave the campaign and then rejoin so that he is the only GM?

You can not demote yourself permentally just per session. You have to rejoin as a player each time you enter the game.
OK. Thank you

The campaign owner cannot stop being a GM (although all GMs can click "Re-Join as Player")

It is recommend to make a blank map page so that the players ribbon is kept on it between sessions. This keeps players from seeing anything the Gm doesnt want them to see and will allow you a chance to rejoin without seeing anything also
Is it possible for the new GM to make a copy of the campaign and invite everyone (including you) to it as players?
Ok, thank you for your input. I thought that we might just have to make an entirely new campaign page.

Other option, you us another account as your player account for the campain that you are creator.
