Players Wanted for GURPS Dungeon Fantasy game

Yo! I got pretty much most of the books for GURPS that would help for a Dungeon Fantasy game. I can teach you the rules as per necessary. I got plenty of prepared material for a sandbox campaign, and a basic setting. Anyone interested in being a player? Post in this thread, so we can get around to details about character creation and game times.
Howdy! Sign me up!
Sure, I can do it, sign me up and write me down :D
I'm very interested.
Michael Keenan, Another GURPS GM here, new to Roll20 but not to VTTs. Since currently I have a number of distractions around here for focusing well in the game, I wonder if you could just allow me to watch at least part of the session -of course without undue OOC interruptions. It would be interesting to see how you guys handle the Dungeon Fantasy game session by means of Roll20.
Hey, sign me up. I'm really interested in that.
Hey Michael, I'd be up for it as a newer player to GURPS but I'm sure i'll pick it up quickly enough.
Great to see so much interest. First thing I want propestive players to do is to post what times and days of the week they are available to game. Also post your time zone (mine's Perth, or UTC/GMT +8 hours, or WST). Let's see if we have enough common free time between us that a campaign can be run smoothly. What books do you have? Also post your first draft of your character concept. I probably won't need more than 4 players for this campaign (I think more than 5 people on at a time would cause lag or crashes).
I'd love to play if I could be a high class art thief, my timezones EST
Hey, I would be interested. I'm familiar with GURPS, but I've never played a dungeon fantasy game. PST is my timezone, but I am available almost anytime. EDIT: I noticed that I missed your second post. I think I would play a sneaky type with just a touch of magic (if allowed). I have a lot of books saved as .pdfs, I have most in both 3rd and 4th ed.
count me in.
Alright, list what days of the week you're available and what times of the day (include timezone, remember). Character creation guidelines: 250-point characters with -50 in disadvantages and up to 5 quirks. Don't have to stick to "class" templates 100%, but racial templates are as per DF 3 and work within the Cheat Sheet in DF 1. Also note that required advantages and disadvantages will be necessary. Cultural Familiaries available: Western Kingdoms (recommended), Eastern Nationalities, Chaos Wastes, Elven, Dwarven, Goblin-Kin, Coleopteran, Faerie, Reptilian, Infernal, Celestial. Languages available: Western Common (recommended), Eastern Common, Elvish, Dwarven, Orcish, Infernal, Celestial, Draconian, Coleopteran, Lizard Tongue. Four players wanted, no more or less. First come, first serve. I choose tie breakers.
Hey, got a character almost finished here EDIT: Updated link further down. I wanted to know what the average starting wealth and tech level was before choosing equipment. Also let me know if I need to tweak anything about him.
I'm interested! But im totally noob so if thats okay im down!
Jeron; As per DF 1 and 2, the TL is 3 and the average starting money is $1000 (1 character point can be traded in for $500). What DF books do you have?
Thank you, I got 1-12 recently but I've only skimmed them so far.
Here is a thread about making GURPS dice rolls in Roll20 displaying margins of success or failure: http://community.roll20.net/discussion/826/alternative-macro-for-rolling-against-target-number#Item_1
Got my character updated with equipment. http://i.imgur.com/NdaU6.png
Jeron: your character is APPROVED. 3 more open slots to go.
I've always wanted to play GURPS. But since you're in Australia, timing might be bad for me. What times are ideal for you Michael? This will allow to me to determine if I should bother applying.
I usually have Thursdays, Wednesdays, Mondays and Sundays free. The rest of the week looks bad. Preferred session start time is anywhere from midday to 5 PM. Keep in mind this is Perth, Australia. How about all of you?
I think I'm awake at that time.
Bumping this, just in case.
Hi - I'm interested in playing. I'm Central European Time. I've never played a tabletop game before, but I've read through the GURPS manual and would like to try it.
I've never played a tabletop game before Hey, your description & background looks good for an interesting character. Try to not get killed too soon! :)
Denis Dies, you forgot to put the discount for Power Modifier (-10%) on your Holy Might abilities (Blessed, Channeling and Silence, right?). I'll count Truthfulness and Disciplines of Faith (Ritualism) are both the required disadvantages for piety. This means that badly violating or getting rid of those disadvantages will result in your god withdrawing your Holy abilities, okay? Also, I don't think bicycles were invented yet. Also, since your Power Investiture is only one level, and I assume you're using the default Good Cleric spell list, your spell list isn't quite legal. Summon Spirit, for example, requires PI 2 or better. Death Vision and Identify Spell aren't on the list at all. Am I mistaken on any of these points? Can you shift some points around? Otherwise, this seems like an okay character.
I updated the doc. Let me know if there are still problems.
You forgot that your Holy Might abilities get -10% off their point costs.
Updated
You still have Identify Spell on there. That a typo? Also, despite having a first aid kit as equipment, you don't have the First Aid, Diagnosis and Surgery skills. Any reason why you have Theology, but not Religious Ritual? I can understand if you don't have any Hidden Lore or Public Speaking if he ain't got the background for it. Also, how much money is left over after purchasing equipment (out of the inital $1000)? Don't bother counting coins as weight, but coins still have volume. Have you decided which piece of equipment, if any, is your Power Item?
Bumping this thread, still have at least 2 slots still open for prospective players.
I took off the identify spell. I gave myself Diagnosis and first aid skills. I added Religious Ritual. It seemed similar to Theology so I hadn't added it. My Naginata is my power item, holding 4FP. I have a remainder of $307, having spent $693 on equipment.
Well, your character is APPROVED. Welcome abroad!
I am disgustingly interested in playing GURPS Dungeon Fantasy. I'll definitely go about making a character for this game, if you're not full up yet. Oh, and am I correct in assuming that you're using the latest edition?
Yep. 4th. Still got 2 more slots open for players. Although I guess three PCs MIGHT be enough, if all the players want a game to start sooner rather than potentially later.
Good to see you've got room still. Creating a character is proving troublesome, but I guess that's how it is with GURPS. Perhaps I shouldn't go about utilizing all 14 Dungeon Fantasy books.
Alright, so here's the first draft of my character. Going for a Syntactic-Focused Wizard who's constantly traveling/adventuring to learn, discover, and experiment with, magics. This is my first time creating a GURPS character, so I'm sure I messed up something. I'm carrying 43.3 weight, and have spent $674.
The game isn't going to be using the Syntactic magic system. Shift the points spent onto normal spells. Also, what is your Native Language and CF? Because you get those for free. The points for lowered Perception puts you above the disadvantage limit. Everything else is pretty much fine, though.
I don't have any experience with tabletop gaming, but I'm eager to learn if you have room for one more and you don't mind admitting a noob into the campaign. Thanks.
No Syntactic Magic? Oh well. Guess I'll have to find my fun elsewhere. Also, I didn't even see that my perception was lowered. Must have been a bug with the character assembler or something.
If you got the Magic book, Mark, you can just shuffle the points on Nouns and Verb onto vanilla spells - although Wizard spell lists hav some restrictions on them, as per DF 1. Robert Miley, I'd be happy to give you a go. What kind of character do you have in mind?
I only saw two characters get approved. Does this game have any more space?
2 open slots for PCs. Got any interest in playing?
I am. I came here from a play-by-post game. It seems like this can run a little more real time. I'm in EST and have found that I'm better with an asynchronous game. I'm willing to try real time, but I'm skeptical. I have a druid character made, but the background is for the Forgotten Realms. I'll be happy to adjust it so it fits with your setting better. She needs a nomad tribe to start with and a village to end up in.
Which DF books do you have? As for your character's background, I haven't set too much of the setting in stone. I've got some general ideas, and at least one "town" area (it's a keep) for the party to use as a home base.
None. I'm using Characters and Magic. I can get some information about Fantasy Races. With 250 points, I'm thinking about playing an elf If you can PM me an email address, I will share the google spreadsheet I've been using so far. Otherwise, what form would you prefer?
My e-mail is p_dragon500@hotmail.com The reason I bring up the DF book series is that they give character templates, equipment loadouts, options and a seperate system for Druidic magic and special abilities. Not ALL of it is required, but it would help you create your character. If need be, I can easily share all relevant info from the books I have. Characters and Magic will be helpful as well.
I shared the sheet. However, this weekend is my wife's birthday, so I won't be able to check back in until late Sunday night.
Which DF book would have the Druidic stuff?
DF 1: Adventurers. That's the only real REQUIRED book - although racial templates are in DF 3 if you're not playing a human.
Ok, I've picked up a copy of DF 1. It looks like exactly what I want. Thanks for the suggestion. The character sheet is moving along, but I have not spent time on Background story yet. I'll try to get that up soon.
