So I just got here and checking things out - however I have no idea how to go about applying some of these cool API to my game.  is there a how to video? also, is there a how to video / guide to making your own api? I know jack shit when it comes to scripts but I am very interested in learning.

If in doubt always check the Roll20 wiki, hopefully  this will give you some help and ideas to start with. I also imagine one of the API geniuses/teachers will be along to give a proper how-to shortly.
