[LFG] Experienced Player seeking US morning games to fit new work schedule

Good morning, everyone. My name is George, and as of recently, I've been moved to the night shift at my job. It's put a heavy-handed end to my ability to play with most people on here I was talking to, but that hasn't deterred me from trying to find a group I can slip into and pick up playing. I'm based out of US Central Time Zone (GMT: -5:00) and looking to play late morning to early afternoon. I generally go to work at 16:00 (4 pm) so I need to be wrapped up by 14:00 (2 pm) to have time to shower, dress, and drive. I'm open to playing with a non-US player base, but English is my only fluent language. My French is a horrible dialect of cajun/creole and hasn't been used in a decade. My experiences: I've been playing table-top games since 2002. My first foray was using the D&D 3.0 rules which were pretty damn new at the time. Over the next couple of years, I played and ran a handful of games and systems including (but not exclusively) classic World of Darkness, Legend of the Five Rings, Pathfinder, 3.5, Fireborn, and GURPS. I'm open to these systems, and others, as a player. I have a pretty extensive physical and digital library built up over the last fifteen years, so feel free to pitch most anything to me. My playstyle: I loath min-maxing, power builds, over optimizations. Those are the kinds of people who fail to function in a real world, and while I understand these are all games, I simply can't understand the character or the desire to play one built like such. I am personally a story whore. I can play an entire session without rolling any combat checks. Maybe a stealth roll, a DM rolled perception check or a saving throw for some unknown (and possibly non-existent) reason. I'd rather understand the world, learn the history, explore the politics, and let my character grow organically in the environment.  My characters: Religious. With rare exceptions, all of my characters in fantasy games are religious. The gods are quite present in the form of clerics, spells, archons, tieflings, angels, devils, demons.... they are mighty, fearsome beings who deserve respect, and regardless of how hard a level 4 fighter can hit, it's not enough to slay Zeus. Assassins who worship Vecna, warriors who praise Kord, Paladins who invoke the name of Saint Cuthbert, and clerics who spread the gospels of Pelor. You don't have to be the pope to be religious; and many of my characters have a deity to whom they pray and follow holidays, even if just in name or fear. Lawful. It's rare that I don't (but it has happened) choose a character with a very ordered outlook on life. Not saying I have to play the law-abiding citizen in every instance, but most of my characters have a distinct code of ethics and rules they guide their own life by. Sometimes these conflict with the local laws, and that's fine (to me) for the story. But a code of honor, code of chivalry, a gentleman's code, pirate's code... something that guides my character as who he is and why. I like to work this out with the DM ahead of time to try and make such a code less rare in the world, and perhaps even a small organization of members who are bound by it, if not to each other.  What I'm looking for: Anything, really. I'd like to jump into something above "level one" but not necessarily a high level. I'd like to find a group who has desires beyond find cave, march through the cave, swing sword, cast spell, loot bodies, rinse, repeat. I'm looking for a game with a campaign in mind, even if that campaign isn't written in the DM's mind yet. I want something that can spawn an epic. I want to sit down after work with friends and tell them of the exploits of our party over a drink. I'm looking for something that I can invest myself in creatively and with some passion and get the same rewarding experience from all players involved.  Setting? : I'm leaning towards something fantasy based, but that's by no means set in stone. I enjoy the SG-1 RPG and would be glad to play in something of a sci-fi nature. I absolutely LOVE Legend of the Five Rings and will make a character immediately if that comes up. Modern game: pitch it to me. Supernatural, let's hear it. I'm really open for ideas right now. So long as the people are good, and the story is engaging, I'm generally open to jumping on board.  So, TL;DR - 30 year old white male loves long walks on the beach, pina coladas, and getting lost in the rain. Can polish armor, sharpen swords, cast spells, pray to the gods, pick locks, shoot lasers, drink blood, and party like it's 1999. Let me know if your table has an opening, and I promise to shower, shave, and even wear deodorant.
sound like you would like a good dose of RP with a sprinkling and random encounters... i have4 a game but you did not list your best days to play. from what i read it might not be a good fit i run it saturdays 4pm EST.&nbsp;<a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/5588418/lfp-5e-homebrew-open-setting-saturdays-4pm-est-weekly" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/5588418/lfp-5e-homebrew-open-setting-saturdays-4pm-est-weekly</a>
Good morning. Sorry for any confusion about play days and time. All days are fine since I'm only tied up at night for work. As for your time slot, no, it's not a good fit. As mentioned in my post, I'm looking for a game that ends about an hour before you even begin.&nbsp; Thank you for replying, though. Best of luck in your game!
Revival time! Everyone's favorite southern religious experience... revivals! Also, our favorite cleric skill/ability/talent. Who doesn't love a good resurrection.&nbsp;Those Christians sure do! All joking aside. I was glad to have found a game to join before, but I was made an offer at work for a promotion quite unexpectedly, which has me working the strange hours of midnight to eight am CST (-6:00 GMT). So I now need to find either an early morning game to play as I come in from work, or a midafternoon to early evening game I can play in after catching some sleep and before having to go back to work.&nbsp; Willing to join party in progress and fill a needed role due to a real-life conflict of another player, or starting from scratch with a party just getting on its feet.&nbsp;

I read your whole original post, and your update after the promotion changing your hours a bit. My game opening would fall at 2pm-6:30pm Central Time on Mondays (could switch to another weekday but currently Mondays consistently). This might be right in the middle of your sleep time, I guess I'm hoping it is around the times you wake up on the new shift. The game system is based on AD&D 2e, with a few cues from 3E, and it's really a pretty wide-ranging system with some flexible house rules (you can play a wide variety of species+class combinations --- even potentially from outside of 2E --- which might suit your interest in character backstory, character frame, and role playing). The setting is a weird-fantasy one, and is kind of heavy metal vibe in a way, I'll describe it in greater detail to you if the timing fits your new schedule & if you are intrigued. This is a fairly new campaign, now around Level 5, as some of the same group has recently completed an earlier long campaign of 2 years on Roll20 (from Level 1 to 14). We have room for another player such as yourself.
Jaeger, I feel for you as I too use to work graveyard shift. I am hoping to come up with a game soon that may fit into your schedule. The ideal would be a weekly classic pathfinder game of about 2 hours in length (A little on the shorter side but makes for a concise game easily to prep and play weekly). Do you maintain the current schedule on weekends? Good posting and wish you luck!
PS. I have met Gold before and he is a wonderful DM and truly recommend his game if you get the chance! He is the real deal.&nbsp;
So I just went back and found that I apparently tried to reply to this, half asleep, by e-mail. One of my better moments, let me tell you!&nbsp; Gold, I'll be reaching out to you shortly. I'll write you on here, but include my Discord contact info in case that's better for you to communicate.&nbsp;

He is the real deal.&nbsp; Dwayne, it is encouraging to me as a DM to read that statement. I feel honored. Thanks for saying it. George, message me soon! I've got a heady one-shot adventure session prepped to play on Monday, that's tomorrow, and there is room for you. Coming up with a character is surprisingly quick on this, I allow a lot of player discretion and freedom in class/species/kit/background -- what you described wanting to play sounds good to implement for this. We have a quick-generating ability score macro roller set up in-game. PC's are now up to 6th level already and advancing on a fast pace, but subject to dying and making a new character when it happens. We do use Discord also.&nbsp; I'll emphasize that it IS a weird-fantasy, unique campaign, homebrew setting, narrative emphasis, cinematic, dynamic lit, very visual, it has to do with Earth music from the 1950s-2000s, has some puzzles for the Players to think about as much as the Character, and uses some tropes similar to the old D&D cartoon series particularly the intro scene. It's strange, it's unique, and it's a daytime weekday. Hope you can try it out.
I am&nbsp; Dm looking for players to join my realm and have opening that can work with your shedule. I have many groups with steady campaigns and dont even need my friends to post compliments on my post trying to make me sound like a good Dm, lol .But seriously, if you are wanting adventure I could handle more and more people.have everything all set up on roll20 , have my pro account and several modules purchased and created right here on Roll20
