Eraser tool for drawing

An eraser tool for the freehand/polygon/etc drawing tools would be extremely appreciated. There's a lot of times when you only want to delete one small section of the drawings and preserve the rest of the sketching on the map. I dug through the help files, but couldn't find any way to do this outside clearing the entire map, which often isn't convenient. A simple way to erase drawings by hand would be great!
Oh no... not ... the ... eraser tool... thread..... To be brief: the drawings are vectors. You can erase one vector (select, delete), but not a part of it with an eraser. That would only work with bitmap drawings (bitmap as opposed to vectors, not bitmap as bmp), but then you would lose the possibility to manipulate (scale, move, rotate,...) the vectors.
Haven't tried this, but can you color over it in the background color? Even so, an eraser type idea (perhaps making it invisible/100% transparent?) would be awesome.

Tormak, you can delete a single drawing (art object) by clicking on the object and then hitting delete. However, for the reasons Patrick explained, there cannot be an eraser tool since the art objects are vectors. - Gauss
Ahhh, I see. Sorry for bringing up an old/repetitive thread, I admit I hadn't looked very far on the suggestion forums.

No worries Tormak, many people repeat suggestions. :) - Gauss
I get the technical difficulty in this but any way to make the select & delete a bit less painful? Now it seems I'd need to switch out of the freehand tool to even be able to select, which is very cumbersome when I'm using a drawing tablet for the freehand drawing. Something like a ctrl+click to obliterate an object could work, or any key + click combo really. (I'll just map the eraser tip on my pen to send that)
