I've never made a forum post here before but I figured I'd give it a shot, as my ordinary LFG isn't getting enough applications for my liking. My name's Thane and I'm fantasy author of 12+ years, currently working on my 8th novel. I have good grammar, write in-depth storylines, and create memorable NPCs. Check my hour count; I work very hard on my games. I didn't even stop running my weekly sessions when I was hospitalized for a stoke, that's how dedicated I am to providing a worthwhile, thought-provoking, and entertaining experience to my players. For almost two years, I've worked on a setting called Xuyan. It was initially a popular representation of "ancient China" and based primarily off of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel. The first game I created for this setting was "Court of the Blind King" and focused around the lives of three children by the Xuyanese Emperor's different consorts, showing the stories and complications of their entire lives from childhood until the game ended, when they each were around their 50s. During this, I created a more expansive global setting: Basho (Pre-Shogunate Japan), the nomadic Khun (representing a post-Horde Mongolia), and the subjugated people of Minjog (Japanese-Korea). This was all I needed at the time for a Xuyan-centric story about three half-siblings fighting for control of the throne. In the meantime, Xuyan began to develop more of it's own lore and I created global lore as needed in the game. When the first game ended, the demand for a sequel was overwhelming. I created a spinoff game called Fall of the Mountain, focusing on the end of the Khun Empire called the Ezent Guren, which was in many ways directly drawn from the Mongol Horde mixed with a bit of the Fall of Rome. During it, I vastly expanded the ancient lore of the Khun and ancient Xuyan, creating as many unique cultural aspects for the mountain folk as I did for Xuyan in CotBk. Interestingly, I am currently working about a novel of the same name about this story. But, of course, you didn't come here for a history story . Here's the TLDR line if you just want to know about the game I offer now. Game Title: Horse Lords System: Fate Core Date/Time: Sundays @ 5pm EST (GMT -5) Language: English. Free to play: YES Adult (18+): NO Form: Text-Only. No voice or video. Discord: Optional, text only. I make frequent use of the in-game forums and always check my private messages. As I said before, this society is based heavily off of Mongolia and the Mongol Horde. Think of this game as showing the rise of the Mongol Empire, but in a fictional setting. The premise follows you, a warlord called a Dain Ezen, as you fight in the service of your king, Khaan Ulaan Nokhoi. You are part of the circle of strongest warlords in the land and speak on behalf of your clan of mounted archers as the Khaan works to expand your control of the land from rival clans, foreign forces, and your enemies to the north. The game focuses heavily on socialization, roleplaying, and the experiences you endure. It's not simply a hack and slash experience all about the rolls, although there's plenty of combat. I mean, you are playing a warlord. If you are interested in the concept and want to learn more, please post here, on the LFG page, or PM me and I will respond ASAP. Thanks for reading.
