Teamwork & Planning

You want me to charge past these first guards and smash into the 15 around you Gorel? I'll come die with you if it makes you feel better.
Nah, you guys seem to have your hands full with the 3 at the fire fountain, I can handle this time for some fire breath. -two of those are still asleep right? or did one of them get awoken by the one who didn't get caught? you could do a full round coup de grace on them while there helplessly sleeping that would make me feel better.
Will take me a couple rounds to get there.
Just a thought- we didn't see any other boats so unless they have a few of those hidden somewhere, then they've got some secret tunnels or they are a bunch of stranded kobolds
I may or may not be there tomorrow. Busy ass weekend here with Bonaroo and cma fest and predators Stanley cup Sunday night. If I'm not there Max you can run me I am fine with whatever happens. Try to sneak and hide and snipe from hiding. Backstab when melee happens etc.
had to google those, Country music festival? have fun with that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvsJdTaqb6s
...Ok guys, I think by this point I should leave, there are 90 unread messages of this, I was too tired today to wake up at the right time to actually play as well as the previously mentioned stuff, at this point i'm just taking up a spot in the team that someone else could fill and help out.
Max needs to move to a civilized time zone...
I'm sorry it didn't work out Demfro, but I understand. Nothing to be done about the time zone issue, and unfortunately sometimes you just can't make it work.
Sorry you had to leave Demfro
Sad to see you go
As we're getting closer to entering a city I need a way to go in with out being killed ( I don't know why everyone hates giant lizards but ok) -it seems my best bet is to pretend to be someones magically bound servant, So I'm looking at leoavor or Kraggan since they're the most magically inclined people ( who wants to be my chaperone?)
Stan just told me that he's going to have to leave the group because his schedule has gotten too busy, so I'm going to run Leoavor as an NPC for the time being. NPC-Leo is okay with the idea, as long as Limar doesn't cause any trouble for him and agrees to help him track down his mother's killer when the party eventually arrives in Treefall.
Did Stan ask if this was a good place to stop the campaign since he's leaving it?

Limar- I need some help getting into town so i can but some armor and potions Leo- I'll help you if you go on epic quest to find my mothers killers with me Limar- only if we kill them and I can slowly corrupt you to L/E on this mission for vengeance so you can become my cohort later. I accept his terms.
Do you have to be "this tall" before you get a cool dragon name?
Sam O said: Do you have to be "this tall" before you get a cool dragon name? -I'm unsure if this is an insult to Limars name since he is small or if you want a cool dragon name for zeke who is also small -if you want to make a cool dragon character look up dragon magazine #320 for metallic or 332# for chromatic be warned this counts as your +1 book, but i approve of converting this to an all dragon party.
Limar doesn't quite instill fear like say Chlorinax the Asphixiator does. Your dragon should be wearing glasses with a name like Limar and get beat up by the other dragons. :D
To be fair his ECL is level 2 at the moment, any other dragon could beat him up, maybe when his bluff skill is better I'll take that m out of his name

To be fair, it's feasible he could end up a couple levels lower than Limar eventually, since as an NPC he'll be pulling guard duty a fair amount.

Is leo willing to share what spells he knows? (above level 1) having few magic missile scrolls would be good for Limar for some ranged since he can't use bows with out proficiency - when Limar said there was nothing in the book he was lying (surprise!) there are some notes that indicate Puelossi (the black dragon) might be trying to over throw "Rith one-eye" (the current ruler of the stone fare i guess) So whats the plan if we get caught up in that? leave it alone, help rith, or help the dragon(my preference of course)

Yeah, it's extremely unlikely he'd end up that far behind you. He's willing to share his spell knowledge with party members, though making scrolls or items is a bit more intensive... he'd probably be willing to sell them to Limar at cost, but the dragon would owe him a favor.
I'm already helping avenge his mother what more does he want? And if i wanted to buy them at a cost I'd get them in town at least shopkeepers don't ask for gold and favors, worse than Limar right there.
"At cost" means at the cost of the materials, i.e. cheaper than in a shop. :P
Alright so long as the favors are small. what spells does he know?
Leo: "All the cantrips of course, plus burning hands, magic missile, comprehend languages, sleep, and summon monster I ."

would you mind using read magic on that unidentified scroll then? I'd like to place an order for 5 magic missiles, 2 comprehend languages, 2 disrupt undead and 3 sleep. can i get a cost?
Leo: *casts read magic and peruses it* "It's got 2 spells... cure light wounds and cure moderate wounds . I can't use it, but I think Kraggan can. As for those... wow, you don't ask for much, do you? I don't even know disrupt undead yet, but I think it's in this spellbook Valern took from Dreyan. I think each one of those would cost about 16 gold and 5 silver in materials, which includes a payment at the standard rate for the life energy I have to expend to store the magical energy in them."
Max said: Leo: "All the cantrips of course, Max said: Leo: I don't even know disrupt undead yet, Do you know all the cantrips or not? and are you charging the same for a 0 level spell as a 1st level? I suppose this is what i should expect from a self taught wizard.
Leo: "Ohhh, right, the cantrip. Sometimes I forget the formal names, I was thinking it was a 1st level spell. I think the materials for that would only be about 10 gold, 2 silver, and 5 copper."

185 gold 5 silver i'll give it to you when we reach a town. -I'd also like to request you learn the "Reduce person" spell so you can shrink the halflings and limar can fly them around.

Now that we're heading to waterwend I'd like to ask our local expert taiba about her home. -any laws outside of common sense? -awesome tourist spots? -any gangs to watch out for. -general size and shape and if she'd be willing to act as a guide.

Ah, yes, it's about time to resurrect this thread, now that you guys are moving towards the full completion of your main quest! Taiba, the half-elf forager hireling you rescued from torture and sacrifice at the hands of a kobold cult to Tiamat in the Stonefare, is happy to talk about her hometown. Josh said: Now that we're heading to waterwend I'd like to ask our local expert taiba about her home. -any laws outside of common sense? Taiba: "It's illegal to draw any weapon larger than a dagger in public, so you'll want to be careful if you get into a fight. There's also a 5% sales tax on everything, and business that are part of the Merchants Guild tend to charge a little more, too... though they always have high quality wares. The Merchants Guild is really powerful in Waterwend, some people say even more than the town council. Drugs are illegal too, except pipeweed and alcohol, but there are a lot of addicts anyway... if you see a pusher, best avoid them." Josh said: -awesome tourist spots? "It's a very beautiful town, once you get past the docks. Though most of the actual residents are halflings. It just grew into such a big merchant port that the areas by the waterfront can make you forget that it's a halfling town, sometimes. There are loads of shops, and if you want to sightsee you should check out the Sleeping Wurm and Eldergreen, or just travel around the Wend, the canals that run all throughout the city. The Temple of Yondalla's very grand too, though I've never been inside. The Red Light District is always popular with travelers, but I've heard it can be dangerous, and it's too expensive for me anyway..." Josh said: -any gangs to watch out for. "You'll probably have a run-in with the Street Rats at some point... they're a bunch of urchins that commit petty grifts and pick pockets, but I've heard that if you attack one of them the others will be on you like a pack of dogs. There's also supposedly a cult of Erythnul in the city, though I don't know if it's really a group or just a few fanatics. Once in a while bodies will turn up with his unholy symbol carved into them, usually all messed up..." She goes quiet a while after that, her eyes looking haunted. Sense Motive applies. Josh said: -general size and shape and if she'd be willing to act as a guide. "Yeah.... uh, it's not a very big city, if you just stick around main street you shouldn't get lost... The docks run along the Orthan river at the north edge, and the rest of the town kind of spreads out southwards from there, with a wall around it. I can show you around a bit, too, once we get there."
7 sense motI've an 10 knowledge religion if it applies to the cult. I would suggest we stay in pairs but me and Leo do that anyways. any thoughts on finding this cult? (Cause that's what hero's do) I'm thinking I could do some night patrols flying around out of sight maybe catch them in the act
Josh said: 10 knowledge religion if it applies to the cult. any thoughts on finding this cult? (Cause that's what hero's do) I'm thinking I could do some night patrols flying around out of sight maybe catch them in the act You've at least heard of Erythnul, the chaotic evil god of slaughter. His churches are few, but there are supposedly violent cults that worship him here and there. Leoavor: "It might be good practice for finding this secret cult we need to track down in Treefall... but I'm thinking we should take some time off first, once we get our bounty. These past couple months have been exhausting ."
does leo want to do good(100) or extravagant(200) upkeep this time? -not sure how you'd be able to relax when someone could try an kill you at any moment but i won't stop you from being lazy for a bit.
Leoavor: "I'm thinking of living in a bit more comfort for a while, once we get our payoff. There's always some danger in this world, but we've been neck-deep in it for a while now, and we deserve a nice vacation, don't you think?" (he's gonna upgrade to a Good upkeep level, at least for the time being)

-we still sharing a room? guess ill match that. Sure, lets start brain storming on ideas to have fun. -I'm thinking that since halflings are small their children would be tiny and therefore able to ride Limar so here's the plan i get a saddle and you being the "master" in our Familiar/mage relation shape force me to give out free rides and then when everyone's used to it , I pull some awesome pranks. Such as taking a kid underwater and out far from any watchful parents gaze then sit back and watch them panic. We could also disguise a watermelon as one, that i could drop from way up high, just imagine the terror or their faces as it explodes into a million pieces and even more when I eat a piece. or we could just do boring stuff like fishing and reading.(sarcasm) I've still got to finish the (sarcasm ended) Current Studies of The Sensory Systems of The Ettin
Leoavor laughs, but says "That does sound funny... we'd better make sure the townsfolk are comfortable with you first this time, though. I'd like to keep researching spells myself, and see if I can start learning more about this secret cult of Vecna in Treefall. I bet we can find a library in a city as big as Waterwend."
I just want to be sure, We're in a kill Zeke on sight mode no matter what right?
Leoavor: "Didn't you get enough of Waterwend's legal system with Balmon's trial? Even if it's revenge, it'll still be murder."

I just want my hand back. - its not all I want its just the only reason i even still care about zeke.
Josh said: once we're done appraising the keep, since the plan is to go help rebuild waterwend and i doubt we will run into anything dangerous doing that I'll suggest we split up an send some people to aid bowhery as well. "Not a bad idea," Leoavor agrees. Hamanap adds, "the need is surely greatest now, so soon after the storm."
Josh said: want too ask Barendd Loderr about his dwaven axe heirloom, sometime while traveling down the river in the boat. appraise the heirloom axe :19, and stare at it with idle greed during travel time. A few days ago, on the Stone River... Barendd sniffles and draws out his axe to show you, giving you a glimpse of the green skin of his hands beneath his gauntlets. The dwarven waraxe is much heavier than a normal battleaxe, but he seems comfortable using it in one hand with ease. Craft (weaponsmithing) applies, trained only. Knowledge (local) applies. Looking over it, you note the quality of the workmanship... not the work of a master smith, but at least a journeyman, and forged of good steel. Worth a good 30 gold pieces, which is a lot for the weapon of a humble mercenary. "Aye, Mereva's been in my family for generations. My da was a guard in Highelm, and carried her in his duties. My grandda used her in the Battle of Kellishan to slay more than 12 goblins before he fell. She's a fine and storied lady," he tells you, caressing the blade's side proudly.
12 goblins? Impressive for a dwarf, what have you slain with it? Green skin? Is that common for dwarves? -improving my sugesstion Kraggan and xankoris should go to waterwend the larger town will need more healers Hamanap can hit up bowhery with drugs who can improve her standing in the companions I can stay here with the kobolds and we can get to work cleaning this place up. Might need some more shovels and a cart or wheel barrow. Some gloves, windex, mops, buckets. Etc
Josh said: 12 goblins? Impressive for a dwarf, what have you slain with it? "A few kobolds, and one of the hobgoblins that tried to rob my last employer's caravan." He looks sidelong at Jarkel. Josh said: Green skin? Is that common for dwarves? Barendd laughs. "Only among dyers. My ma got me apprenticed to one, when my da died. I never liked the stink of the vats, so I worked hard on my axeplay in my spare time till I was good enough to get decent mercenary work, and ship out with a caravan. The stains never faded, though... my arms are still green to the elbow." Josh said: -improving my sugesstion Kraggan and xankoris should go to waterwend the larger town will need more healers Hamanap can hit up bowhery with drus who can improve her standing in the companions I can stay here with the kobolds and we can get to work cleaning this place up. Might need some more shovels and a cart or wheel barrow. Some gloves, windex, mops, buckets. Etc Back at the Fortress of Pelor, in between battles with the lingering spirits of the dead... Hamanap looks at her hands worriedly. "I need this affliction healed, before I can do much good. Do you think Bowhery will have a skilled enough healer to cure me, so I can help others in turn?" Leoavor frowns. "I'm not sure it will... Bowhery's a nice little town, but you can find just about anything in Waterwend. Though I agree that Limar and the kobolds ought to stay here with me to start overseeing the cleanup, once we clear it out. Maybe Hamanap can come back to help remove some of the lingering magical traps once she's been treated?"
Once in Waterwend, Hamanap points out, "Once we're all healed, perhaps we should purchase some diamond dust to carry with us in the future? That way if we're afflicted with such terrible injuries again while traveling, I could cast restoration spells myself without us having to rush to a town."
So, I'd like you guys to start thinking about what you want to add to the Fortress during the renovations, and what you want to rename it. It has 3 stories plus 8 wide towers, so there's plenty of space for specialized rooms. Leoavor recommends a library ("starting with the books we've collected so far"), a treasure vault ("maybe the kobolds could trap it"), and maybe a laboratory ("Xankoris could set up his alchemy equipment there, and I could use it for arcane experiments"). Hamanap suggests a shrine to Bahamut ("I could consecrate it myself"), pantries and larders ("we'll want to be able to store supplies in case it's besieged"), and sown fields in the surrounding hills ("the Hills of Light will be excellent grazing land for sheep, goats, and cattle... and if we have Limar's followers and kobolds farm as well, the Fort should be more than self-sufficient").
