Hi, 20-Rollers! I am starting a New World of Darkness game titled Queen City (also listed in the LFG system, look it up!). I have one player already, and would like to have three or four more. The game WILL BE: Focused on exploring mysterious places, uncovering forgotten secrets, and political intrigue. Combat should be infrequent but risky. There are no casual, easy encounters in the World of Darkness. Sandbox style. The game will begin with a specific scenario designed to get the ball rolling. After that, I will present story hooks where I can, but what happens will be up to the players. True to the noir-gothic flavor suggested by the World of Darkness setting. That means, in this version of the world: it really is dangerous to go to the old abandoned house on the anniversary of the owner's suicide; the things that go bump in the night are much less dangerous than the things you never see coming; there very well might be a monster under your bed. Set in a version of the city of Charlotte, NC (and its surroundings) that has been altered to match the above bullet. Probably best played by player-characters with the Changeling supernatural template. However, I will do my very best to accommodate PCs using other templates, and I always encourage mortal characters. GREAT FOR FIRST-TIME OR NEW PLAYERS! This is the ideal game for you if you've read through the books, maybe built a few characters on paper, but never had the chance to actually play. Probably best enjoyed by players of Simulationist or Narrativist bent. I'm not saying you can't join if those terms don't describe you. I just think those types of players will have the best time in the kinds of stories and worlds I like to work with as the Storyteller (GM). For the time being, text only . Played on Wednesday nights at 9:00 pm, US Eastern Time (which is UTC -5). The game WILL NOT BE: Focused on dungeon crawling, though players my occasionally find themselves in something very much like a dungeon. A swashbuckling adventure. Unlike D&D, the World of Darkness setting does not mean that the PCs are exceptional souls capable of far more than ordinary people. As stated above, I will always do my best to present a dangerous world. After all, it's always going to be dangerous for a mere mortal to get in a fight with a two-thousand-year-old vampire lord (just for example). Designed to kill off PCs. The above bullet point does not mean that your characters will die left and right. It just means you will never find yourselves fighting level 1 rats. Railroaded, if I can help it! I know I have a writerly Storytelling (or GMing) style, but I will always do my best to present problems with multiple possible solutions. Ideally, the players will want to explore the sandbox enough to have their own goals. A democracy, but a RICKTATORSHIP
. Yes, the players always will have the freedom to choose what their characters do, whether that's open the door on the left or seek to overthrow the Summer King. However, I will have essential control over the game world. That doesn't mean I don't want suggestions and feedback! All GMs love suggestions and feedback! Please post a reply to this topic if you have any questions at all. If you are interested in playing, please send me a private message with a concept for a character. This can be as basic as: "I want to play a Changeling obsessed with hoarding magic items" or, "My character will be a disgraced but driven former police detective." If your character is not going to be a Changeling, please include some idea of how your character might have encountered the occult. Perhaps that hard-bitten investigator wouldn't stop asking questions when the brass told him to, and found out that the puncture wounds on the victim were made, not with knives, but with claws .
