Status markers in the wrong place

Last night, I noticed that sometimes the status markers would show up to the side of a token, so it would look like the token adjacent to it had the mark, not the actually marked creature. It seemed to happen most often with the further "left" colors. And, at least in my game, was most prevalent with purple. Red and Green seemed OK, and the brownish-orange color was about 50/50. Those were the only colors we used last night, but I'll try and test more the next time we play.
In my experience, this depends on the size of the token. If the token is large, the status markers stay on them, but if it is smaller, the ones on the left side bleed over. Below are two examples--one is 5x5 tokens and the other with 10x10 tokens.
Generally speaking, I would make use of the tokens from left-to-right in terms of frequency. The purple one does tend to bleed off the token if it's a single square token. We'll be looking at this when we consider the suggestions to add custom amounts of markers, reposition the markers, etc.
