Zooming from toolbar takes you to random location; no mousewheel zoom

Subject says it all. I'm at 100% zoom, looking at a token. I choose, say, 60% zoom from toolbar. Bam. I'm now looking at some random portion of the map nowhere near the token I was just looking at. Searching the forums, I have seen posts saying that alt+mousewheel should zoom the map in and out, but this has never, ever worked for me. For me, alt+mousewheel just scrolls the map up and down the same as if I were holding no modifier keys. Firefox 16.0.2 on Windows 7. I'm kind of wondering if this is an incompatibility with the Smoothwheel add-on for Firefox. Does anyone else use it?
Zoom always jumps you back up to the top left corner.
Mouse wheel does the same thing, even for me, it's very frustrating to have to use the magnifier tool. I don't have any mods installed.
It would be nice if it were intuitive and could register relations on the map when zooming like say... zoom in keeping the current top left corner at the same point...
How about an ability to drop labeled markers and an option to center on one?
Yeah Pepper, OR an option to center on tokens.
