So my skype has stopped working and I can't find an answer online. It says 'Connecting...' at the top of the app (Win 10) but never loads anything, even when I close the app and re-open it. I've already uninstalled/reinstalled when this happened before, but I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem?

Have you tried running it as administrator ? Have you tried installing the program from the website instead of the app ? (thats what I use)
