A Time of Great Dangers... All across the world of Toril, tremors of the coming storm echo throughout the land. The seas churn with unclean things from the depths, while the water has begun to sour and the ground turns fallow. Seers both great and small have become catatonic and inconsolable, screaming of the world consumed in a deluge of fire, waves of acid washing over the mightiest armies, the crashing of thunder breaking the greatest strongholds, the air choked with poison and the seas turned to ice. Apocalyptic rumors travel on the heels of a cult once thought vanquished now given renewed life, invigorated under new leadership. Worse still, the sky is now host once more to the winged terrors, the dread creatures of scale and claw: dragons. Reports of these attacks further fracture an already tenuous balance as the nobility struggle to reassure or subjugate their people, even while the richest towns are ransacked and plundered by the Cult of the Dragon. Trademeet was the first to fall. Since that black day a campaign of rapine and plunder terrorizes the innocent. Those who survive are forced to abandon their Gods, cut their hands before graven idols and worship dragons alone. With the fall of every town, the entirety of the Sword Coast trembles before the onslaught of the Cult of the Dragon. Instead of cooperation, the various factions of Faerûn seek to protect themselves against the coming conflict, only further dividing their strength. It is here amidst the breaking of the world that you find yourself in a unique position to play the most pivotal role in the events to come. You and a small handful of others are thrust violently into the conflict. For if you do not act, the tyranny of dragons will surely bring the time of mortals to an end. _____________________________________________________ A Dark Epic of High Adventure... On Tuesday, October 31st at 12:00 AM PDT the Tyranny of Dragons bundle was released on Roll20. I have purchased this bundle and am preparing to run this campaign in full, from beginning to end, which will begin on November 5th. Our first session will take place at 5:00 PM PDT and run for four hours, and afterward our subsequent sessions will (nominally) take place weekly Sundays from then on at 10:00 AM PDT and run for four hours. We are using the Twitch desktop app for voice. My version of Tyranny of Dragons is a campaign that has been re-envisioned to suit a very adult dark-fantasy style epic. Furthermore I want to run a more in-depth game with a focus on role-playing, characterization and visceral, brutal violence with a story that confronts the players with difficult dilemmas. The challenge level of the campaign itself has also been increased and will easily take the players to level 20 by the time (if) we arrive to the climactic finale. I have a group with three players that are currently, more or less, ready to get started. I am seeking one (1) player to round our group out. Ideally this player is emotionally mature, well articulated, fairly experienced with role-playing games, preferably 25 years of age or older (at least 18 years) and looking for a campaign for the long haul. We will be using a custom character background process, so the stock-standard backgrounds found in the books are not eligible. Characters will be rolling 4d6 for ability scores and have the option of re-rolling up to two times more. Please note that the Dragonborn, Gnome and Tiefling races have been banned.
