New Update 1/29: Better Google+ Hangouts Integration!

As of today on both Dev and Main you can now create a Google+ Hangout directly in the Google+ interface, then just add the Roll20 Hangout app. If you do so, it will present you with a list of your current campaigns that you can choose to load into the hangout. So it's no longer necessary to launch the hangout from the Roll20 site, as it has been in the past. In addition to this, your players can create accounts without ever visiting Roll20 first. If they launch the Hangout app they can just click a button letting us know they're a new user, and we'll handle all the necessary account setup based on their Google+ information, getting them into the game with just one click.  Finally, you can even create new blank campaigns directly from inside the Roll20 Hangout app. So in theory you could now use Roll20 via the Hangout app without ever really visiting the site (although of course you'd be missing out on the forums, help documentation, and lots of other neat stuff!) But hopefully this makes it easier on GMs to get a game going, and easier on your players to join a game via Hangouts without even really needing to know what Roll20 is. Enjoy!
Dumb question, how do I launch the r20 app?  I can't seem to find it on the G+ hangout apps screen.
Disregard, I figured it out.  You have to load it the first time from R20, THEN it appears. Nice job all.  TY!
Not a dumb question.  I don't see it either.  Maybe it will take a day for Google to let us see it?
Has it still got the horrendous memory leak, or were you guys able to pin down that one?
Has it still got the horrendous memory leak, or were you guys able to pin down that one? I mean, all I can say is that I play a game every other week with 4 other people for 3 - 5 hours at a time and it works fine. But if you're having issues still let us know and we'll see what we can do :-)
I'll piggyback on what Riley said... we had that same problem for awhile as well, but I think both Roll20 and Hangouts have stabilized in the past three months or so-- we used to have to reload a few times a session on our livestreams and this hasn't been the case for awhile here recently.
My group with a GM and up to seven players some sessions has been playing D&D 4e for a few months now, exclusively via Roll20 and G+ hangouts. At first, we did have to reload a few times and had some lag issues, but those ended around the third session. We just finished our fourteenth session and have had no problems at all. The biggest problem with g+ and roll20 was the chat lag that used to plague dice rolls, but that's completely gone now.

That sounds very promising. I'm kicking off my weekly game in a couple of a hours so I'll give it a try and let you know. For the past few months we've been running a Hangout and Roll20 (with sound and video disabled) in separate browser tabs and we've had a flawless experience. We may still do that because of the loss of on-screen real estate when running Roll20 in a hangout, but we'll give it a go.
We've been using hangouts for a few months now with no problems. As Mr G said my only gripe is how much screen space Hangouts wastes. Really wish there was an option to make the app full screen and have a draggable video bar or something.
Eric, if you have two monitors, you could run the hangout on one monitor and Roll20 on the other. That's my preferred method as a player. I dunno about GM'ing though.
Sadly I only have a 15" laptop screen to play on at home :)
How are my Google account and my r20 account linked?  I've previously started a campaign in Hangout from the roll20.net site and the Hangout app requested permission to know my Google identity. However, when joining another campaign as a player in a Hangout, it doesn't seem that my Roll20 account is recognized:  I don't see the campaign in "Campaigns you have joined" on the site...

Yeah this is currently working as intended, although it may need to be changed. Currently games you join in a Hangout don't get added to your "Campaigns you have joined" list on the site. My original thinking on this was that Hangout campaigns were sort of a different deal, but now that we've further linked them together we should probably change this as well.
