Looking For PokeNerds

I'm sure there are rule sets out there already for Pokemon game play, but I have some specific ideas and I am looking for people to help shoot ideas back and forth, build a solid basis, and actively test it out with me as many times as it takes to get it figured out. In order to create a possible multi-player scenario, Leagues would not be implemented. We would have to treat it as an AU. There will be classes. Can't say I have many ideas set in stone, but general Trainer and Breeder are definitely there. The character will have stats and characteristics of their own. Pokemon would be considered a skill extension of the player. Most base level Pokemon have a stat change move and a physical move of the Normal type. I figured that as Pokemon gain exp (a small amount after battles or possible scenarios at the GMs discretion) they can buy new moves or level up old ones. Pikachu with Tackle could level it into a physical move that causes paralysis or a low damage move. Eventually, the damaging move could be something like Bolt Strike, though that may be the combined effort of increasing damage and effect separately in order to reach that goal. This would allow a realistic progression system for growth in battle power. Not sure how we would handle IV's/EV's. Pokemon may simply be assigned stats based on their type and at each 'level' the trainer can invest points into their stats. Or we may consider their stats akin to Characteristics, do a roll for each Characteristic in order alphabetically, and only allow increases to them at certain points. (High criteria investments) I would also like to have a playable story to help introduce people to the rules that we define. There's a lot that I don't have answers for yet, and that's where I need you to come in. Send me a message or drop a line for me here. Anyone interested may join, though I am looking for people with more knowledge about Pokemon than I am about Tabletop RPGs. Basic understanding of these games is sufficient for the bulk of people involved. Please no GenWunners. I remember playing Pokemon Blue on my old beat up bulky GameBoy too. I really don't care if you don't think the newer gens are 'real Pokemon'. I need people with an open mind, not a boot in their mouth.

Beaten two. I've played and beaten Blue, Yellow, Silver, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Black, White 2, and X. I'll cover your lack of experience. :3

WolfCleric said: I played Mystery Dungeon Sky Heros or whatever the one with Shaymin was and Black and beaten both(just not Darkrai in MD) I never got into Mystery Dungeon. I forgot about Pokemon Ranger, though. I played the first one. Got bored with it, but it does lend itself to humans using Pokemon outside of battle extremely well and I will be drawing inspiration from it.
As long as I can focus on Ghost/Psychic type.
WolfCleric said: As long as I can focus on Ghost/Psychic type. Well, we will need a few branches for attacks. Though, we are a little ways away from that point. That part is actually likely to be the simplest part, the attack generation phase. As for the maths for making battles work, well, that's what I am working on right now. Most people play these games for the combat. If we can get a working combat model, we can build the actual game play and story line potential around that with greater ease.
Pfft I play Pokemon to look at em.
Anyone else interested in helping me out? Could be a lot of fun.... Not strictly looking for people that can invest hours a day, but if you can pop in now and again and throw an idea out there or proof read another proposed rule, that would be fapgasmic.
It is like 4am in EST time 3AM CST time or 5CST time so.. you gotta wait as probably only like 10% of people are on.
It's 2am here. Sleep is for the week. .... See what I did there?
Nope. I am not very in depth with mechanics but story I can help with.

Oh sorry I don't notice stuff like that often.

Got a couple people so far. Still looking for more. :D
We are starting to work on the rules surrounding battle. This includes the maths for Stats, as well as moves. We may be able to do a bit of mock battling within the next few days. Need more peoplez, though.
We are very nearly ready to start mock battles. These will be tests for how easy the concept is to grasp and implement. I would like to have multiple people involved. I want to see how easy it is to understand over a broader scale than what I currently have.
Working on the battle mechanics mostly, at the moment. Need people to help with the planning phase AND the testing phase. Looking for people with experience Breeding to help develop a simple mechanic that we can implement. (Key word: Simple) And people to help with developing the adventure mechanics. And LOT's of testing.
If you guys are still looking for players im totally down. Also awhile ago i played a pokemon DnD with some friends, it was mostly home brew but i can totally help with ideas.
Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but there is a fan-made game called Pokemon Tabletop United. You can download the game from the Pokemon Tabletop Adventure forum. No opinion either way, but no need to make a new game if what's available is to your liking.

Thank you, but the system we are developing now is going to have a broader appeal due to the skeleton system that we are building first. Pokemon is just going to be one mask that it can wear with its own additional rules added to it.
Need active people. We've had several people that have joined and then just not said or done anything.
