If you are reading this then we must have failed, and Ubtao willing I am with Pann and Banou.  I am sorry I could not right the wrong that fell upon us, hopefully we will find peace together in the next life. The horde are approaching the town of Jawbend and we have managed to clear a cave containing a white dragon, while this would normally be a time of celebration I have this impending sense of doom, we may have jumped the first fissure but now we face a canyon. The Gnoll spoke of the Clans uniting under one warlord Akiir Artax.  Those Gnoll's could number in the hundreds are heading right towards us and I fear for our chances.  The only thing in our favour is we have picked the terrain, the townspeople of Jawbend can stay in this cave and force the horde in a choke hold.  I hope our new Dwarf ally can contribute any ideas, I hear his kind live underground, least some of them. I am coming to understand those in my group, a little at least, they are not the sort that plundered Chult and destroyed our home, they care about others and respect the gift of life itself, in their own ways.  I find myself drawn to protecting them as if they were my tribe. Love this - very cool Mike!
To my surprise we have survived, not that I doubt the ability of this group, they have all proven they have a sting in their tails, more that we may have underestimated the bite of Artax.  I confess he is a mighty warrior and the weapon he wields has the power such a warrior deserves.  I whilst trying to defend the villagers I found myself in trouble, thankfully the others stepped up and we helped each other to safety.  Some of his band did fall to our teeth, to what I believe was a Firebolt from Dellavorn and some arrows from Ellasai, she is slipped into the darkness much akin to a Panther, if it were not for the arrows I wouldn't know she stayed to protect us. After some healing magics were cast the shield was slotted into place on the statue a wall of light appeared to block our foes.  I thought us safe though Artax was still there screaming and smashing his flail against the barrier.  I think if he was persistent  he may have got though the barrier, the dwarven statue was broken the next day, I think weakened by is assault.  Thankfully he ceased and disappeared before my eyes. For some reason Artax and to what I assume the cultists want is the "Blood of the Salavi".  Given our encounters with the cultist and a Demon a few days prior this must be for some nefarious ritual, maybe involving blood magic.  What concerns me is we still do not understand the reasons for all this.  The Salavi are like a tribe of Shamans, they all have the power of magic within their blood.  I'm not convinced they have told us everything and I'm suspicious of what is really going on here, I feel like a pawn caught between two sides, least one side isn't slaughtering people.  We have now made an enemy that can appear and disappear before our eyes be it Artax and the culstists or the Gnolls in the Inn, I'm not convinced anything is as it seems. Another surprise to me the elf Dellavorn has just offered me a drink from his bottle, I can't say I enjoy his beverage though the thought of sharing was nice, its been a while since someone thought to split the bread with me.  I do worry he likes that that drink too much, its not very hot here and he seems awfully thirsty.  I wonder what his spirit animal would be, given what I have seen he reminds me of the Al-mi'raj back home, funny since they teleport in the same manner. I know exactly how Dellavorn would respond: "Your culture has spirit animals? How intriguing - do they have any socio-political influence on ones standing within the community and if so what is mine?" " An 'Al mi-raj' you say? Sounds exciting! Is it a particularly striking and noble creature; elegant, yet strong. Powerful, yet graceful? Of course it must be!" "What do you mean its a rabbit that teleports!" *drinks wine*

Things in this town of Egeby are incredibly strange.  Given the past days events nothing is as it seems. Whilst questioning bar man Porin more the girl called Mary appeared out of thin air waving to the bar man.  Thankfully Otto cast a spell which convinced him this appearance is not a magical effect.  This leaves the natural ability or maybe what I fear now the supernatural.  I understand the clerics of this culture sometimes care for the dead, perhaps Otto has some experience or talents in this field. We discovered Porin is not human, when cut with a piece of silver his wound regenerated in mere seconds, Otto's spell during this was still active and there was not hint of magic.  I struggle to understand what he or it could be though the list of creatures with shapechanging ability and regenerations are too numerous.  His mind appears elsewhere replying he can't speak of anything to any questions. Ellasai made a good point today which seems odd, given the town this size we have only seen two children by the ruined building.  Something that took us all by surprise.  What this means we do not know but I do not think it is a coincidence. Further to our frantic investigations Otto realised the moon was still full.  This sure could not be the case as it was full moon days ago.  I believe Otto put it as "the town is stuck in time"... further finds point that this may be the case. Given Porin was talkative before his current absent state I wondered what or who would cut his finger off and leave him in like this.  Whilst looking for the finger, any blood, or scenes of a struggle I found a hidden black book under the bar.  Upon searching through the book there was two entries and what others in the group believed to be some alchemist notes. We visited the Gnome again for help with these notes after some persuasion and wanting some help dusting I found my sisters family necklace.  It was covered in dust and looked like it had been here over 100 years.  He said he used to be an adventurer and my sister gave it to him back in the jungles of Chult.  How did it end up here and why does it look so old?  The Gnome was quite helpful he explained to that this formula was an agent that revealed invisible ink and gave us some. We used some of the agent to reveal hidden text in the journal.  After some scanning Dellavorn pointed out some worrying entries.  One entry spoke of the lady Ellasai was having a date with being switched.  If there really is a trap now at least we suspect it. Another recent entry spoke of a traveller bringing news that "Halruua" was destroyed.  Thankfully Kayleigh knew this happened 100 years ago during the time of troubles.  Halruua was an entire country that was destroyed.  Kayleigh pointed out another strange occurrence.  The town of Egeby is only 50   250 or so years old, founded by people from Baldurs gate setting up a new township.  How is it possible that nobody in the town heard of Halruua being destroyed, and how did my sisters necklace get here looking so old.  Maybe Otto is right, "a town stuck in time". Otto ran out of the tavern and knocked on a few houses, they were all empty nobody living there, it is as if the town is all false any hardly anyone is here.  Which is mad given me and Dellavorn passed through a busy market just hours ago. Now we rest before Ellasai's date.  Hopefully more answers will come and not more questions. Kwaheri Artuar
