5E Noob looking for DM for help and Group

I've read a lot of the rules (understood most). A while ago I tried DM'ing for a group of friends but that didn't go too well, partially because I was the only one who knew the rules. Now I'd like to get back into it (or actually into it for the first time) and sort of need help fleshing out a character and starting off and what not. I'd appreciate help or a nudge in the right direction :) Thanks! P.S. My timezone is GMT +1, i.e. Central European Time.

Hi, i'm pretty inexperienced with D&D but I'm a big fan, never played it myself but I've watched all of the High Rollers series on youtube and know the basics for 5E etc. I'm looking to join a group as a player, im standard GMT?? I think? I'm in Ireland/UK timezone, they keep adding +1 and taking it away, gets me confused
