4e Group Hunt

Looking for a part time group to DM. 4-6 players who would be willing to play on Sundays would be great. If interested, create a thourough backround that would take place in the 4e base world (Nentir Vale). Maybe I'll rewarrd good backstories with a related magical item.
Semi-Noob here, played a few times with a garage full of friends before it fell apart. Huge RPG/MMO fan and a big lore nerd. Also, this is my first time posting on a LFG thread. Where can i go to read about this Nentir Vale so that i might create a story about my character? thanks
Just let me know what kind of guy you'd like to be, and I could help you tie it into the world. Or if you have access to the player's handbook 1 or 2, or maybe even the dungeon masters guide, they should have some info.
dwarf barbarian, as for the handbook and DM guide... they are sadly still out of stock from amazon. i should be getting them soon though
What level would we be starting at (to give me an idea how much experience/training the character would have)? I typically play strikers, so putting one of those together would be simple, but I'm trying new things. I've never played a warden before, thinking about it. Also have a warlock/invoker hybrid I haven't had a chance to play yet, who also happens to be a dwarf like Lorewalker's dude. Once we get an idea who else is interested and what kind of builds everyone wants, I'll knock out a backstory
Sounds good. We're starting at Lv. 1. I'd like to try and have the group as diverse as possible, though I can make exceptions if the background is good enough.
Hello. I would like to join you fine fellows in the Nentir Vale. Here is a wiki for information about the area. http://nentirvale.wikidot.com/setting I am Oren Deathrattle, a human warlord from Fallcrest. I come from a long line of generals serving Fallcrest since the glory days of the Nerath Empire (depending on what timeline we are using, and what's going on in the world at the time) and I was raised to do the same. My father Ernest Deathrattle served Lord Markelhay honorably and was proud to be one of his war advisers. My father was framed by Sir Solomon the Wise as a traitor in order to gain Lord Markelhay's favor and influence. My father was executed and my family has been cast down; no longer trusted by our peers. I now wander the vale, using what my father taught me in order to gain money, power, and the ability to prove my father's innocence. However, I am still young and inexperienced with much to learn about the tactics of war. Let me know what's up. Rules, anything I might need to play. Whatever you can think off.

Group Hunt Tallies: Human Wizard, Human Warlord, Dwarf Barbarian, and TBD 2 SPOTS LEFT
Point buy or standard array. 100 gp to spend on equipment, and 1 lv. 3 or lower magic item.
Color me interested, as I'm really liking the Nentir Vale/Points of Light setting the more I learn about it. One thing that should be noted about that wiki is that it seems to be from someone's homebrew campaign within the setting, so some of the information found there might not be strictly canon. At the moment have a drow storm sorcerer that I would really like to play, but I can do something else if necessary.
A.O. Mega, short for Aldous Oxley Megaftnic, has been a long time scholar of both the light and dark arts. He spent years studying in an underground cistern, where for years chaotic magical energies seemed to emanate from the ruins below his Dwarven city, kept in check only by the watchful efforts of the few magically gifted dwarves such as himself. It was thus he learned to balance his own energies, the light and the dark, playing against one another, somehow producing stasis. At one point in his life, however, A. O. found himself enrapt with the darker energies. Other mages recorded a spike in the chaotic energies over several months, and a number of pupils and adepts were overcome with melancholy and random bouts of fury. Eventually, the balance was put right once more, but for A. O., the experience went deeper. He felt communion with a dark energy, whose temptations at first were innocent and seemed to help A. O. and the other adepts band together in revelry, but in exchange for their boons, the adepts realized that some part of them had been sacrificed to this entity. At last several of the adepts joined together to banish the entity, and it went, but not without siphoning off several of the weaker members and marking the rest. Several of them still bear the mark, which would almost seem a cross were it not twisted and set askew. Nevertheless, A. O. persisted on and became one of the leading lesser adepts in the city. Dwarven Invoker/Warlock, specializing in pretty reliable multi-blasting, pretty reliable area control, and being awesome to everybody except baddies who don't follow his rules.
Are we using backgrounds and themes?
I'm going to use themes as rewards throughout the campaign. Say you get bitten by a werewolf, you get the werewolf theme.
Ah right. I found another wiki about the Nentir Vale. Although most of the key points are the same. http://rpg.wikia.com/wiki/Nentir_Vale
Okay here's what we got: Human Wizard, Human Warlord, Dwarf Barbarian, Dwarf Warlock/Invoker, Drow Sorcerer "CALLING ALL DEFENDERS CALLING ALL DEFENDERS"
Any thoughts of what time (And time zone) you might run this campaign? Also, will this be a long term or short term campaign?
Long term on sundays about once a month, and for as long as possible.
Im also central time.
Sorry, meant to post this http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=751423
Only once a month? I was sort of hoping it would be more frequently than that, but I suppose I can deal if it means I get to finally play a sorcerer.
How about a warforged paladin? I've been itching to play a divine warforged for a bit now and could easily put together a fun backstory for it.
Warforged don't really exists in this world, but I'm willing to make an exception of a good reason of why he's the only one. Maybe he could be the prototype, or from the future, something like that included in the background.
I am very interested in joining up as a Defender ! I would either run a Dwarven Fighter or Dwarven Paladin ... The only thing I need to confirm is the Start time and finish time. I understand it is based on CST. Thanks! P.S. I have a good back story for either character ... just let me know Torkeg Dorron - Dwarf Fighter Kagin Lightbringer - Dwarf Paladin
We're full right now, but if some people don't follow through I'll let you know.
Everyone who's in the party may make a wishlist of magic items that i'll reward instead of randomly picking an item during an adventer.
Just a reminder, no themes.
Sentinel was found by a group of adventurers in a forgotten, sealed room hidden in a forgotten, sealed ruin built by some forgotten civilization. When they found him, he was seemingly just a metallic statue of a kneeling humanoid figure in plate armor on a pedestal. It was as if he were some old golem, small compared to other golems and untouched by rust or time. The party broke into the room while attempting to flee from an angry gang of goblins, hoping that they were unlocking some hidden passage back to the surface. To their dismay, the room had no other exits and no weapons to take. Just the metal figure, gleaming from the light of their torches. In desperation their cleric, a worshipper of Bahamut, directed his divine light at the statue and called upon it for aid. Sentinel awoke at that moment, but was confused by the cleric’s demands for aid. This was no golem and he did not take orders for random spellcasters that decided to awake him from his long slumber. However, after seeing the group’s Fighter laid low by a goblin arrow, the old machine’s martial training kicked in. He instinctively raised his shield arm and charged into the fray. He snatched up the fighter’s longsword and, with the rest of the party behind him, they made short work of the goblins. The ancient humanoid machine eventually made his way back to Winterhaven with the cleric that woke him. It was there that many things began to bother him. For one, he did not have any memory of a time before waking up. He did not remember a name aside from a distant memory of being referred to as a “warforged.” The only thing that he knew was how to fight. Over time, the warforged began to seek answers from the gods. Who was he? What was his purpose? What should he do? The answer came from the cleric. “Don’t ask yourself, ‘What should I do?’ Instead ask yourself, ‘What can I do?’” He could be a shield, he decided. Devoting himself to the god of the man that woke him, he took the name Sentinel and learned how to fight for justice and hope. He wasn’t sure of his place in the world, but he felt that he could protect it.
Okay everyone, if you could resend your character sheets, backgrounds, wishlists, and ideologies, in a private message to me that'd be great. We're probably going to play this coming Sunday. I'd like us to play as long as possible so let me know your guy's play times. Also, would you guys like to explore a large world, or have a central homebase?
Hey guys, Im so sorry for all the confusion we will definitely play on sunday. Just let me know if you are still in or not and i'll let you guys know when we'll play on friday. Thanks.
I'm still in, but we definitely need more communication starting right now. We have too much time to be saving notifications until the day of, or even a couple days before. Instead of picking a time at random, it might be better if we could all discuss what times are best for everyone beforehand. Why isn't there a game page/forum yet? Are we not using Roll20? It would be nice to get in and set up macros.
Yes. I am free all of Sunday. Just let me know what time we will begin.
Okay, agreed. Doe someone want to set up a forum? I don't know how, Im still new to the whole online group thing.
Emmanuel S. said: Okay, agreed. Doe someone want to set up a forum? I don't know how, Im still new to the whole online group thing. Yikes. So do you even intend to run this game on the roll20 engine? You should be able to, on your home screen, find a blue button that says "+create new campaign". If you click it, you'll get to name the campaign, and a forum will automatically be created. You can invite us all to join. It will also let you create maps, etc. Please stop me if you know all of this already. If you've already created our campaign, you still need to add/invite all of us.
Yeah I've created it, just needed to know about how to make the forum. Thanks.
