The campaign takes place in a semi-historical setting in the West Indies (Caribbean) during the Golden Age of Piracy (between 1650 to 1730) where the great nations of England, Spain, France and the Netherlands wrestle for power and access to the rich resources of the Caribbean. There is some magic and mysticism at play, but generally towards the lower end and the feel of the campaign is towards themes such as the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The group sets sail as privateers for the crown of England, privateers were persons or ships that engaged in maritime warfare under a commission of war. Along the way the group will face many struggles and varied adventures both on and off the battlefield, on land and at sea. At the start of the campaign England is at war with Spain, and relations with France are uneasy at best. The main focus is on creating interesting and exciting growing role-play driven story lines where the players’ personas are in the spotlight. As such meta gaming and power gaming ruins the immersion and is thus discouraged, while good roleplaying and in-character dialogue is rewarded. Expect realistic reactions to your characters actions and words as fit within the setting and era.
