I'll try to keep this short... It has occurred to me that a
number of new players are looking for groups to join, many of them first
timers. I also fit into this category, having never played a pnp rpg. So
here's what I personally would like to do. I'm thinking a few one-shot
sessions would be a good way to get acquainted with how to play, before
committing to a lengthier weekly campaign. I'm also looking for other
players who are new as well, although it would be nice to have one
semi-experienced player to help things along. Looking for players who
obviously want to have fun, occasional ooc chat wouldn't bother me, but
ultimately looking for people who are genuinely interested in learning
how to play, and sharing some unique adventures. I chose D&D 3.5. I have the revised 3.5 Players
Manual, and the Monster Manual as well. I recommend to players
who are completely new like me to try to obtain a copy of the 3.5
players manual, and to familiarize yourself with what you can. However
if we find a dm who is very helpful it might not be much of an issue. I think you will need a 3.5 Character Sheet at
the very least though, which is easily obtained. As much as I
would like to get started right away, I do plan on studying the manual a
bit so I can pretty much know what I'm doing from a basic point of
view. So I'm thinking next Fri (Jan 24th) might be a good day for the
first session, if enough people show interest. If we find a dm soon
enough I am up for rolling characters at an earlier date if
they are interested in helping players with that. So as I
announced in the title, yes, I am looking for a dm. If this sounds like
something you might be interested in then any help would be much
appreciated. If you need more time to prepare materials I am ok with
that. The only thing I ask of the dm if at all possible is I would like
players to be able to roll their own characters if they wish to do so. Right now I'm thinking Fri or Sun
afternoons/evenings will work well for me. I would like to do at least 3
separate one-off campaigns in groups of about 4 or 5, once a week. Players may
return for more than one session if they wish, so if queues fill up and
it seems like it needs to go longer than 3 weeks I am ok with that. It's
really up to how many campaigns the dm can/wants to provide, so if
there is a need for a second dm to run separate sessions, especially for
queue purposes, I am ok with that as well. I don't consider myself in
charge of this prospective event, I'm just proposing it. So if
that interests anyone, including players, please let me know. Any DM help is much
appreciated. It can be a bit intimidating trying to find your first
group, so I thought for me personally this would be a comfortable way of
going about things. Thanks.
