Hi, I have a group of new players including myself who are looking for a DM to host a one shot session for 3.5 next week. Also if you're up for it I would like to split the group into two separate sessions, hopefully one Fri and one Sun this coming weekend. Current group size is 8. I plan on participating in both campaigns. Current group includes: MiNUS Ulamasha Trollcranked Jesse W. +2 friends Vivaldist S. A thank you goes to all these players for showing interest in the campaign. If you are interested in DMing for us, please let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm rolling my own character (Half-Elf Ranger) but I assume some may want help rolling theirs or even may choose to play pre-built. I'm also learning the rules as best I can so I can help alleviate some of the tutorial work if need be, plus one of Jesse W.'s friends is semi-experienced. Hoping we can find a DM. Thanks! :)
I can maybe DM this, depends on what you want. You just want a dungeon since its just a one shot? or a RP heavy type deal.

That would be fantastic! I'm honestly up for anything as long as there is a chance for me to break in my new bow! Even if I just shoot a plague ridden rat for target practice. :) I'll wait to see if any of the other players have any preference, but I'm up for whatever like I said. Thanks for considering!
Just don't tell me day of the one shot lol.

So, 7 has grown to 8. I'm up for any kind of adventure, and I'll assume the other party members are as well since I haven't heard otherwise. Whatever story you feel like hosting is fine with me. I'm up for heavy-rp, and some combat as well. I'm thinking of cross-class ranking 2 in Open Lock just as a heads up... Would you be up for doing one Friday and one Sun? I ask because there's 8 of us total, I think splitting it up would work if u want to dm both.? Thanks again for considering! :) My Half-Elf Ranger is coming along nicely, I should be able to finish him up today.

I cannot do the Sunday one, if its 8 Friday it'll be kinda hetic for a RP heavy game. Figured I'd just make a dungeon since its a one-shot. I can have some RP elements to it. What level do you want?

Awesome, thanks! Lvl 1 would be perfect if that's ok, I plan on progressing my character. How many do u want for Friday? Is 5 good? I'm in PST and can be on anytime after 11:30am my time. If anyone wants to DM or Sunday feel free to post, otherwise I'll try to find someone to host next weekend for anyone who might get left out. Thanks again.
I guess I will DM your Sunday one shot seeing as how I already got two people who wanted to join the one I failed to host last Sunday, so long as you don't mind two additional players joining your group.

Nice! I don't mind one bit (saw your post from last week). Thanks very much! Going to be a great weekend. Let me know if you need any details/info.
Yo Alex, if you want, I can make the campaign and promote you to DM so you can use dynamic lighting and the mentor features.
As for your campaign Edman, I require everyone to use mythweaver. We can do a level 1 start as you requested with average starting gold per class. Take max HP first level. Stats will be done using a 32 point point-buy. Pointbuy Calculator (use DnD not pathfinder, no stats below 8) - <a href="http://tools.digitalightbulb.com/pbcalc.html" rel="nofollow">http://tools.digitalightbulb.com/pbcalc.html</a> Mythweavers (create a 3.5e character sheet) - <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/forumhome.php" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/forumhome.php</a>
Ok, np! I was thinking a second character roll would be nice for some variety anyways :) Thanks for links

Ummm sorry I'm gonna have to say no to the 32 point buy, IMO that is way too much. 25 is lowest I'll go in my game. Nah I'm good Zero but thank you for the offer. I'll run same setup as Zero but 25 point buy.

I have never heard of anyone doing a 25 point buy before unless they intentionally wanted to play a weak power level campaign. A 28 point buy is the same as all players having average rolls with a 4d6 drop lowest stat selection method. A 25 point buy would be below average stats or a weak character setting. You sure? Expect to see a lot of people with a couple 8s or 14 and lower stats.

I just think the 32 point buy might be little too much, means the characters might plow through everything. I mean I've had 25PB plow through things even, but thats just my experience. I guess I'll do 32 but try not to min max or cheese.

They are mostly first time players. I don't think they will be min-maxing and they will probably need all the help they can get. If you are worried though, run a 28 point buy. That is just the right amount without leaving everyone weak. If players are blowing through your encounters, then you aren't setting them up to exploit your parties weaknesses. I typically run an adjusted point buy with the more powerful classes getting 28 points, and the weaker getting 36 points and rarely do I have my competent players, who actually know how to character build, steamroll anything. I also frequently shift the stats on monsters around and such to balance for the party.
Ya I'll probably adjust monsters after one encounter.

STR: 14 DEX: 16 CON: 12 INT: 12 WIS: 12 CHA: 8 (Half-Elf Ranger) 28 point buy. Zero: I'm still doing a 32PB for your campaign. (or 28/36) Unless you think this character will be playable in your campaign as well, then I'll just use him again. I would actually prefer that if possible but I can be flexible if need be.

Posting this here to help keep things organized. I will be doing my best to organize who is playing on what day. As of now: Fri : Shuz K'ellek, Jesse W. +2, Ulamasha. (5) Sun : Shuz K'ellek, MiNUS, Trollcranked, Vivaldist S., +2. (6) Zerocaliber: if 6 is too many I will drop myself since I don't want to cancel anyone. That's everyone. It seems like everyone is pretty flexible concerning the time of day. I'll leave it up to DMs to decide when is a good time. I'll be on after 12:00pm (PST) on both days, I expect some players will need help rolling characters which I am incapable of helping with at this point. Looking forward to it!
We can try 5PM EST for Friday.
