Name: Warwick Age: 24 Past dnd experiences: I've been playing for a little over 10 years now and DMing for around five. I started with 2e ages ago but since then I've also played 3.5, 4, and 5, and a handful of the video games. 4e is definitely my favorite edition by far but 5th's growing on me as they add content. I've never played in a canon setting for more than a handful of games though so I don't know the Official Lore super well. Character name: Thalo Class: Bard (college of swords), though honestly I can play just about any class. It looks like you guys already have a good mix of skills so I wasn't sure what would fit best. Race: Tiefling Gender: Male-leaning but largely unnattached to gender as a concept, quite honestly Backstory: Thalo was born on the surface to parents he doesn't remember who promptly dumped him at an orphanage. Despite his adorable tail and horns he wasn't adopted until he was six, up until then he had few friends as most of the other kids there were things like half elves and gnomes who were a little put off by his appearance. He spent most of his time avoiding the other children, instead sitting outside and drawing or chasing down particularly interesting looking bugs. Eventually he was adopted by two drow, Silver and Sinnel, who took him back to the underdark and raised him there. Unsurprisingly he still stood out quite a lot and he did take to dying his hair white to fit in a little more but overall people were more just curious about him and less blatantly unnerved. One of his drow dads, Silver, was an actor at a theater and Thalo got involved almost immediately. He loved dressing up and getting to pretend to be other people, even if he was kind of bad at it at first. He eventually became skilled at swordplay and even learned to use a real sword from a smith, Errol, who lived nearby. He never lost interest in art, either, and continued to hone his skills with paints and charcoal; he even managed to sell a piece to an art gallery. His other dad, Sinnel, worked as a scribe (or at a printing press? how far even IS technology) and unbeknownst to his husband and son had been helping to move escaped slaves to the surface. He was found out and forced to flee but not before attempting to send a message to Silver and Thalo. The message was intercepted by the Queensguard, the elite force working for the queen, and before they knew what was happening armored guards were kicking down their door and attempting to drag them off. The smith Thalo was friends with had been working with Sinnel and had seen the guards passing by. He came to help and though it was a bloody fight between him and Thalo they just barely managed to get out, though not without Silver being greviously wounded. They made it to the surface exhausted and injured but alive. For a year they moved from place to place with the threat of the Queensguard constantly looming over them. After a lot of careful, cautious corrospondance with contacts in the underdark they confirmed that Sinnel was definitely somewhere on the surface and still helping others to escape the underdark. Eventually it became clear that Silver, a leg having to have been amputated after a terrible infection from the initial injuries when they fled, couldn't keep up with the constant moving and they found a small farming village where he could hopefully live in peace. Thalo and Errol decided to continue the search for Sinnel, agreeing that it would be best if they split up for the time being. Thalo, travelling under the guise of an artist looking for inspiration (which is technically true!), continues to look for his father while avoiding the Queensguard and helping people wherever he can.
