Forgotton Realms 3.5 semi homebrew

new players welcome, i will roll your guy with you if you need. one of our players has never even heard of DnD as of a week ago. I am currently in the first few weeks of a DnD 3.0/3.5 slightly homebrew campaign. We are using MythWeavers for char sheets and Roll20 for dice/chat as well as maps and tokens and such. The setting is starting out on a newly explored isle taking place in the forgotton realms setting. Shortly from now the campaign will force the party into souther faerun, then All of Faerun, Kara-Tur, and Zhentarim is open to you. I have located free detailed maps for the world and each local area online that will end up being handed out for navigation as you go places and buy the maps from what cartographers exist. -------------------- The story so far is that a new clan of orc has been found on this isle that identify themselfs with a White Hand for a flag The orcs are far smarter, have far more mages, and are larger and stronger than regular orcs. They are also in incredible numbers. One city has been razed to the ground and others are barley holding on under relentless assault. on the newly settled isle. The orcs have pushed Goblins and Kobolds into service for a long period of time, even managing to get them to join the orc clan and fight in inteligent formations. It has the rest of the races bewildered on how they breed in such numbers, where they are coming from. Some of the orcs have even had magical suicide bomber type tatoos and other strange powers not really had by orcs normally. You can ignore the whole orc problem if you want and go adventuring. There have also been strange black robed figures seen in the night performing rituals, the same figures that are sometimes seen with the orcs. ---------- I grew up playing DnD and every bioware game ever made. BG1, TotSC, BG2, ToB, IWD, HoW, IWD 2, NWN + all expacs as well as mod making and heavy DMing on a mandatory RP server. Most all of the "fantasy" lore i know comes from drizzet books, elminister books, dnd campaigns, and games. So i am rather familar with Faerun and feel like i can run a really good comprehensive campaign. What i dont know from lore can be made up. Currently the party is just 2 friends, and due to work contraints for one we can play Fri/Sat nights around 7/8 EST until around 1 or 2 am. Sometimes game nights of oppurtunity if they present themselvs (if he has a day off or something). One is a Barbarian, the other is a Wizard. There is a 3rd player who is a druid, though he is new and i am afraid he might be flaky and not show and end up being removed I would like the party to be aprox 4 players large on a regular basis. So i am looking for 1 or 2 to join. you can play whatever you like. Char gen is fairly generous and how my group played as kids; 6d6 take best 3 and assign for stats, handbook from there. spellcasters get table +2 spells per day and ignores the int table (which is worse than 2 spells for each level even at the best) to allow easier casting. disable device, open lock, and spot/search are class skills for all, so that rogue is not MANDATORY and anyone can play what they want. 5 mages and you can still spot a trap and disarm it. i think that is about it for rule changes. otherwise i go from memory, make shit up, or follow the book if there is a written rule. i dont care to look things up so if presented with a situation i dont know i just decide what feels right, you are free to look it up and correct me if you want, thought often my judgement is the more generous. microphone requiered at least, camera appreciated. new players welcome.

Love the concept. Long time D&D player here with Skype, Mic, Mythweavers, and an open schedule for that time. Would be interested in getting in touch if you have open spots. Can nearly play every class though I do have my preferences. Certainly familiar with Faerun and FR.

I'm interested if you still have a spot open? I play pathfinder on a regular bases and have played 3.5 a few times, but I get the gist and create a character. So if you have a spot open I would love to join.

bump to the top, if anyone wants to roll a guy tonight post here and you can replace our 4th. He is a 16 year old kid that never heard of dnd before 2 weeks ago. I played a lot of league of legends with him back in the day. He tried dnd for 2 weeks loved it and then somone in his family died. Since then he has not messaged nor respnded to any txt, skype, nothing, for 3 straight weeks. I have had family die myself, it sucks, but life moves on. You cant just snub 4 people who rely on you being there for something each week and then you just go POOF for a month. So replaced, i guess. We might up it to 5 people if he ever returns, but i doubt it. SO yeah, post here, group right now is Ranger, Wizard, Cleric. The cleric is being the tank with 2 ranged people. Any class is ok to be played really, Open Lock/Disable Device/Search are class skills for everyone. That way it is not 100% mandatory that somone be a theif
howdy I would be interested in playing if warlock is allowed. I am also on the east coast only problem is friday nights I can only play till 11 and sat nights I already have a game. Thanks Kevin
i am hesitant to aloow anything not in the PHB I for 3.5 only because the other members of the party did not have those options when they rolled. If you want to roll a regular guy, join, and then if the group works out and personalitys mesh ask them when/if your guy dies and you reroll. my reroll rule is you reroll as a diff class than you were before, at lowest XP in the party -25% total xp. so if the part is all 5 and you die you come in at like 4
the point is i dont want antimosity or jealousy from the get go because of class-options, and i dont want to retoactivly alter existing chars to be in a new class. if the group allows you you can for a reroll. got a link to the warlock class so i can examine it?
its in the complete arcane. pm me your skype and I can send you the pdf if you need it. If core only then I would play a monk. So in your game raise dead/resurection is banned? What is the mentality/alignment of the group? Good? Neutral?
nvm found a link to warlock online <a href="http://dndtools.eu/classes/warlock/" rel="nofollow">http://dndtools.eu/classes/warlock/</a> its basically a casting class that uses SLA instead of spells but they get only 12 SLA over the 20 lvls of the class
the mentality of the group is mostly good/neautrel. the mage just wants magic items, the cleric is pretty good, the ranger sorta just follows the mages lead. raise dead is not banned, it is simply a really high level spell. If you first consider that only 5% of the races are arcane or divine inclined, with elves having the highest at around 10%, and only another 10% or so OF the original 5% is in a situation to practice and learn their skill. (the guys who CAN use magic but spend their life ignorant of it farming for example) So out of the aprox .5% of the population that can cast divine magic, another small % reach a high enough level to cast raise dead. Even then, they need to be selfless enough to sacrifice part of their soul(xp) as well as a huge chunk of wealth for components. So while raise dead is not outright banned, if you die, you are far more likely to just reroll, unless your willing to wait in a state of Gentle Repose until you get raised
after reading the warlock entry id have to ask you to go monk or something else. warlock would completly eclipse the wizard. If i understand the warlock right, you COULD, if you wanted, just make Eldritch Blast after Eldritch Blast, every turn, making nothing but ranged touch attacks, which negates the largets part of the AC bonus on most enemies. the only way to make the two classec omprable would be to give the wizard At Will Magic Missle the same as eldritch blast, and then it needs to scale. I plan to be DMing for a long time now that i found this site and method to do it. It is something i really enjoy. If the personalitys all mesh well this group could run for months, hopefully years. The campaign i am running now is a slow paced epic adventure that i plan to end at lvl 20+. If the party wipes i will just fast forward time, this adventure fails, the world gets changed based on that, and then the next campaign takes place. In that one all class bets will be off from the get go and anyone can roll anything of any race combo from any book. I just want to be fair and offer it to all players at the same time on the same level. I dont want to have a new player join in as a non-standard class and then make the others feel worthless with overpowered abilitys At the same time, i recognise your desire to be a warlock and have fun, and dont want to tell you no. but i kind of have to

IMO wizard is much better than warlock in almost every way possible. I am interested if you still need another. I just found this website and I am looking forward into getting back into DnD. All I have ever played is 3.5 but I have not played in years. I am sure it will all come back to me very fast.
