Fringe of the Age Campaign This is the Third Age in the world. This is an age of low technology and magic (very low access to magical items).
The last age ended with a cataclysm brought on by magic users who, in
their greed and avarice, opened a hole into the Dark One's prison. This brought on years of year and
destruction. The magic users
(Channelers) banded together and attempted to seal the hole in the prison. Unfortunately, the Dark One lashed out at the
last moment killing the majority of Channelers in the world and sending a wave
of dark energy over the world that sent into into chaos and upheaval. And it forever changed the human race of the
world. The energy began to warp their
very existence and over a period of two hundred years, new sub-races began to
emerge. These sub-races began to thrive
and grow in number until they became their own standalone races. It also threw into chaos the powers of magic
that shape the universe. No longer was magic left to a select few. Now magical abilities manifest themselves as
innate abilities in some (ie; spell like abilities like Ki, CHA based casting). Almost one thousand years have passed
since the breaking of the world. The
world has all but forgotten those terrible times and has begun to rebuild. But prophecy and legend show that the Dark
One shall rise again if not countered by new heroes. And already there are signs... This is a gritty, post-apocalyptic game with mature themes and a harsh environment. Characters Characters will be 20 point buy, or roll 4d6, drop lowest, arrange as desired (keep the better of the two). Level 1 to start. 150 Gold. Two traits. All races allowed up to 13 RP. Alignments: any non-evil. There are a number of class restrictions based on the setting. No INT or WIS based casters (ie - Wizard, Cleric, Druid, etc.). Paladins are also out due to the gritty setting from an RP standpoint. Classes such as Ranger that have access to WIS based spells must archetype out of spell use (ie. Shirmisher Archetype). CHA based casters are OK - ie. Sorcerer, Oracle, Bard, etc., Summoners being the only exception. Party Composition A balanced party is key, the group will have 4 Characters total. First slot is taken, there are 3 openings. Estelle Duskstalker, Catfolk Monk 1, Ninja X (Utility, Party Face, DPR) - Open - Open - Open Players Mature players preferred, we'd like to have at least one 30+ player before adding more younger players to keep the culture balanced. Weekly commitment required, failure to show = kick. Experienced players preferred, we would like people who are good at building solid characters, who don't have to be coached through sessions. Experienced roleplayers are key, as it will be a heavy RP game. Combat is also important. Optimized characters and good roleplaying are not mutually exclusive. Skype and headset required (this is not a text based game!). Next Steps Please add to skype: natethegreat976 and paulshoop You will be asked to make a character in mythweavers and send the link via skype as part of the application process. First session is this coming Monday at 7pm EST.
