So last week I did my first ever D&D session on roll 20, and it went well. I also had a 1 on 1 session with a newbie this afternoon, and it also went great. (I have been playing and Dming 5e for about a year and involved in about 6 different games at the moment) Given all this, and how someone took the time to introduce me to D&D, I would like to invite newbies to be in a game I run. You don't have to worry about mechanics, as you will learn as you go along Ideally the game would take place once every 3/4 weeks on a Saturday/Sunday evening. Time is flexible depending on everyone involved. Here is the setting I am going to run: About the game:
All of you PC’s are humans and live in the village of
Crossgar. You are all in your late teens (17/18) and have just finished whatever
education you have. You are going to be newbies and start off at L1.
You can pick any
class you like but think of a plausible reason why you have whatever ability
you have. E.g A fighter could have been apprenticed in the local militia, A
cleric could be an acolyte to a local temple, a ranger could be trained to be a
woodsman, Rogue to a locksmith etc. I’m really flexible on this, but think of a
reason why your characters would be who they are.
The next thing is you all know each other, so share the
stuff you want the other people to know about. You all grew up together so you
should know generally what everyone is generally like.
Last thing, no evil characters please.
Background
Crossgar is a small village in County Down, and has what all
normal villages have in regards to shops and pubs. The village has a small
local run militia to protect the place from wild animals and the occasional
thief, but by and large decisions are made by the village council, with it being
chaired by the mayor.
Crossgar belongs to the County of Down. The Baron of Down,
Lord Haversham is seen as firm and fair, but County matters hardly affect the
village except in the form of taxation and occasional military conscription.
County Down is one of the smaller counties in the Kingdom of
Ulster, with the other ones being Antrim, Derry, Armagh, Cavan, Donegal,
Fermanagh, Monaghan and Tyrone. They also have their own Lords, who you know
nothing about. The Lords pay fealty to the King of Ulster, King James..who to
you common folk is just a man who sits in a castle called Stormont.
The whole of Ulster is made up of humans. Other races exist.
You have heard about the dwarves and the elves, with all the normal stereotypes,
but you have never seen them. Other races you have heard of but only in
folklore. If you are a newbie and this seems interesting to you let me know. Also intend for this to be a mixed game with equal men and women...
