The discovery of magic brought on a revolution of mystical technology and progress. The 4 great sages, formerly the scientists who discovered magic in the first place, kept things in order and guarded the world from anything that would threaten it. Peace reigned, and humanity flourished, until the dark days came. It had been discovered wide spread that exposure to magic long term causes deterioration of the meta brain [ the souls mind], thus insanity begins to insue. And so it was that the Sages who formerly protected the world from mystical threats, and provided the world with the knowledge to empower themselves through the use of magic, became the tyrants of the new world. The Sages of insanity began developing and planning a new ritual. They began dosing themselves with high amounts of snake oil [ the drug that allows the user to manipulate and bend reality AKA Magic] and began taking psychedelic drugs to allow them to move into a state of consciousness removed from the ego, enhancing their mystical capabilities.
