Here's a couple very useful wiki pages; https://wiki.roll20.net/Dynamic_Lighting and https://wiki.roll20.net/Dynamic_Lighting_Examples tl;dr Darkvision Characters with darkvision are able to see in dim light as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light, usually out to a radius of 60ft. To represent this we'll create a "light source" for that token, that only that token can see. What separates it from acting like a Lantern is that the All Players See Light box is not checked. For example, darkvision of 60ft would look like: Light Radius = "60" Start of Dim = "0" All Players See Light = "Unchecked" Has Sight = "Checked"
ok think i go it but how do i have fog of war reset on map
see my real troubles come from outside maps if i put a camp fire on one side of map (so a light source) makes a spot of light in the map that they can see when no where near range i think i got it with fow but how do i get fow to recover the map not grey it out if that makes it more clear

Could you post a screenshot that's using a player token's pov, perhaps with a little more explanation? Thanks

A campfire at a distance would allow visibility of objects around that campfire if there were no physical obstructions. The limited distance to sight for the characters is only in reference to light in that characters area. Light sources in other area can and should expand that naturally. Go outside at night in the dark. Can't see much near you, but walk to a lighted parking lot, or a light on at a house. You can see things in that area because of the light, even if you can not see other things near you. Again, if there is some physical obstruction, then its the matter of creating the appropriate light wall to block it. Also be careful with these alternative light sources are not brighter than they should be. If you want to downplay it a bit for an across the map situation, reduce the actual light distance by half or a third even, until they get closer where you can reestablish the normal light. This would simulate seeing better detail for being closer while still seeing that there is indeed a light source in the distance.
