Have you ever created a campaign in Roll20 (Not that you've run one, but just created some to test things out)? If not, has a GM ever elevated you to GM status in someone else's campaign?

I have created one campaign just to learn a little, but I don't think anybody elevated me to GM status. but if that is the answer, all is ok then.

Yep. Anytime you create a campaign, you're the assigned GM role of that campaign.
