I've run a 'Living' version of Dark Sun for AD&D 2e, for a few years now with multiple parties in the same world that all effect each other in various ways. Curently we have 2 parries participating now, with more rejoining come spring/summer when my gaming convention opens up again irl. All you would need is Roll20 & Discord to participate, as we can easily get you up to speed on the system very quickly. The setting itself is a savage, survival-oriented world where certain resources are scarce, magic is feared and/or outlawed, and psionics run rampant. Powerful tyrants known as Sorceror Kings wield magic to control the citizens of vast city-states and their Templar agents enforce their will with brutal efficiency. Many offenses, even minor ones could result in forced labor/slavery, public torture, or worse, being sent to the gladiator pits where one must face bloodthirsty creatures and infamous pit-fighters to gain their freedom, if they somehow manage to survive...As for life outside the city-states, escaped slaves roam the wastelands hoping to find a place to scrape out a living among deadly monsters, raider tribes, and worse- that is, if the scorching sun doesn't kill them first. I'm a very laid back and encouraging DM, my philosophy is: the rules (for the most part) are guidelines. If a player can convince me an out of the box concept works I am all for allowing it.
