Hi all, I've been using Roll20 for some time now. I haven't been on for about a year or so, though, so I might be a bit rusty. Here's a little bit about what I hope to get out of a campaign: Availability : I'm available any time during the evenings (say, past 5:30 CST, GMT-5), and all weekends. About Me : Relatively new to D&D and Pathfinder (About a year or so). I'd say that I'm moderate in terms of experience. A good GM would make all the difference. I'm an immersioner / RPer in MMOs, so I have a lot of "experience" with my preferred character's personae. I'm aware of the potential in RP for Meta-gaming, God-Moding, etc., and feel as if I do a very good job at not coming across that way. I'm over 30, but my inner child pretty much runs the place! :P It's very important that the group have a mature mindset. I'm just not sure I'd be comfortable with anyone under 18, and would prefer a median group age of around 25 or so. Preferred Character / Playstyle : I do love the Mystic / Psionic class. For DnD 5E, I spent a LOT of time putting together a sheet, and I'm very pleased with it. I think I may have some 3.5 and Pathfinder Psionic sheets out there, too. It's not necessarily homebrew, per se, but I think it is still considered official WotC playtest material, as the Mystic class is not officially part of 5E yet. A psionic character kind of ties into the "personae" that I've been RPing with in the past. Again - not a deal breaker. I've played several classes, and would be willing to give something else a go for a good group / GM. I'd be willing to message some proposed character sheets to whomever would like to see them. Obviously, some changes may have to be made depending on the GM's method of character creation / point allotment, and interpretation of the variable rules of the class. I'm not interested in a pre-made backstory - (details and such needed in order to fit into the campaign are fine, but no "You're the bastard son of a rich nobleman." "You've been in the guard for 20 years. etc.). Immersion is important to me. Should you allow some of my existing L1 characters, you'd find that Roelon's story is very much within canon, and is very adaptable. I'm fine with some changes for the good of the campaign, but I have a general template that I would like to stick to. Preferred Playstyle : I'd prefer that the campaign spans multiple sessions. I'm down with one-shots, too. I'd just hope that a GM is willing to put in the effort for an immersive setting. In my experience, not many one-shots get that level of attention. I'm not sure if playing with a large party is right for me. I've been in a party of 12, and it was a charlie-foxtrot. Having only played a few games in the past, I'm not sure if these even needs to be said - but I'd prefer an RP-style game. I'd prefer to play with MATURE people. That's a relative term, of course, but it's important. Twenty-somethings and up comes to mind, but I don't want to be so limiting. I'm ok with homebrew rules - but nothing too crazy. I'd prefer to stick with "normal" stuff. Preferred Campaign Setting : I've got no real preference, other than it be somewhat "realistic" I'm not necessarily a fan of harsh worlds where I can't relate to the setting. Think: Lord of the Rings = New Zealand with magic and monsters. That's what I dig, not some floating island on a volcanic moon that's illuminated by three suns in a distant galaxy. Caveat - If you have a rich, deep history, and a justification, I'd consider it. I don't like "Over-the-top". I don't like the concept of everyone being a god-like super-being. Magic / psionics / advanced combat training should be special; rare. I haven't been in campaigns with elements like spaceships and time-travel, and I hesitate to go down that route. Too... sci-fi-y. Again, if you can tell the story well, I'll consider it, but it's outside my comfort zone. I keep thinking back to the movie series "Back to the Future". In 1985, they had an ...interesting take on what the future would look like in 2015. Now that that time has come and gone, their vision seems... well, ignorant to a comical extent. Not their fault. They couldn't know what they couldn't know. Same goes for a GM in 2018 designing future spaceships. It's just likely to be ridiculous to me. ...Unless you're a NASA engineer, I'll likely pass on those types of games. Tone : I'd like for the tone to be semi-serious, with relatively mainstream concepts. Artistic Style : No real preference. I will say that I'm not a fan of cartoony-looking worlds, characters, or other elements. It's one of the reasons that I'm not a fan of anime. Nothing against it - it's just not my scene. GM : Immersion! That's a big one for me. Draw us into your world! Make us want to explore / fight / whatever. Put a little effort into it. I don't really care if you have dynamic lighting or high-res maps, but I'm not really interested in looking at a blank grid / hand drawn stuff akin to MS Paint 90% of the time. (This shouldn't even really need to be said, but sadly, that was the experience I had some time ago.) Willing to contribute to paid GM . Now, there's limitations. Not willing to pay for one-shot sessions. Would like to get a feel for a GM before committing to anything. Anyway - feel free to message me here. I'll make sure I receive email alerts, and should be able to respond quickly. - Thanks! "Roelon Geraux" /edit : Added some info about desired setting, tone, artistic style.
