[LFPs][Story Games][GM-less] Different Games - Day and Times TBD/Flexible

Greetings! I've been keeping an eye on this thread about indie/story games. There's definitely enough interest around here, so let's get something started. What First off, this is exclusively for GM-less Story Games. You can find some examples of these types of games towards the end of this post. So, what's GM-less mean? First, there's no GM, not even a rotating one. Everyone contributes equally to the game. Secondly, no one comes to the table with any premade prep whatsoever - we create characters, setting, everything through a collaborative process. Ok, so what's a Story Game then? Well, they're very different from adventure games like D&D. To say "It's a game that focuses on making a story!" isn't helpful, so how about this: Story games allow a player to influence and affect what happens in game beyond just 'what their character can do'. Often, but not always, this is accomplished by setting scenes to showcase a particular moment in the story. However it happens, the rules give the players the authority to make creative decisions about the narrative directly. That's a lot of power and it can be daunting to come up with something to contribute sometimes. It's definitely not for everyone. However, you might find that the most rewarding moments are when when you realize that everyone at the table is excited to hear what you have to say, or someone else comes up with something on the spot that just blows you away. Who Any number of players total, with about 2-5 per game (including myself). No experience required, anyone is welcome! You can learn any of these games, as you play, usually in 15 minutes or less. When I'm available in the evenings after 9:30 PM EST / 7:30 PM PST / 2:30 AM UTC on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. I'm also available on Sundays most US daytime hours. Here's a timezone converter on Google, if you need it . It would be good to play at least once a week, though it doesn't have to be the same day and time each session, or with the same group For most games like this a session usually runs about 3-4 hours. Many of these games can be enjoyed, start-to-finish, in a single session. Several others adapt well to more longform (campaign) play. Where We’ll be using Roll20 for a shared game space and the game forum for scheduling sessions. The games will use voice communication, and we’ll decide the method (Discord, Roll20, Skype, etc.) by group consensus. For what it's worth, I've had particularly good results with Discord in the past. You're interested, and you want to know what to do next? Just reply with a quick overview of Who you are What times work for you What you're most interested about in indie, GM-less, or story games Any additional questions List of Some GM-less Games I Can Facilitate: Microscope Kingdom Follow Downfall Eden Fiasco Mars Colony Dark 39 A Penny for My Thoughts Polaris Perserverant In a Wicked Age Hillfolk Inspectres ...And I'm probably missing a few in there. I also wouldn't mind getting the material for other games (Shock, Durance, Mind of Margret, etc.) if there's enough interest. I've also got a few other games that could be adapted to a GM-less style like In a Wicked Age, Hillfolk, and Inspectres above.

Hillfolk is not GM-less

Thanks for the reply! You are correct - Hillfolk is not GM-less, as written at least. Neither is In a Wicked Age or Inspectres, for that matter. With a few alterations to the rules the games wouldn't really require a GM. However, you do bring up a very good point: Hillfolk would definitely require the most effort to modify of those three, and it would probably require a specific kind of group to work well. I hope that helps to clarify, would you be interested in participating in any of the games mentioned above?

Hillfolk is alreay being discussed in this https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/5945117/slug%7D thread.
Greetings! Myself and my partner would love to get more time playing GM-less games. There's just so much creativity that comes from the think tank style that we really enjoy without a lot of pressure. I have the materials for,and have hosted, Durance and The Quiet Year. Im especially interested in playing Microscope and Perseverant. The times you listed woek good for us, I prefer Sunday afternoons.
I would be very interested in playing these games as well. I've played Microscope and Fiasco before and they're two of my favorite games. Weekends would work better for me than weekdays. But I could potentially make weekdays work if the games were no longer than 3 hours.
Sorry for the delay getting in touch everyone! @Walt - Thanks for the heads up! I think I want to play a few different games, maybe rotating through week by week, so I think I'll pass on a dedicated Hillfolk game. I appreciate the suggestion though. @Skurvyninja and Matthew - I've sent an invite over to you for the game I've created, please let me know if there are any issues! We might be able to put together something for tomorrow, if everyone is available, but if that's too short notice then we could maybe do a session next weekend. Microscope has a special place in my heart for sure, it's where I got started with Story Games, and it's so much unlike anything else I've ever seen. The Quiet Year could be especially interesting in Roll20 since it involves the drawing aspect. I've never played Durance (I've got an idea of what it's about though) so if you wanted to host that at some point that would be great. I've also never played Perserverant but I picked it up on Kickstarter a while back and this would be a good opportunity! I've got a few topics on the game forum so that we can discuss what we want to play and when.

I have no clue how exactly this will play out, but I'm interested to find out and see what it's all about. I'm definitely one for character and story driven games, and even love to express my own stories. I'm a fairly experienced and mature roleplayer. I'm pretty much available around noon to night in EST, depending on my sleep schedule or things that come up. Probably my most favorite thing out of roleplay is to create and explore through stories, and have others explore my own. I have so much ideas for GMing a story, but I never can put up with the demand of it; in theory, having it GMless and allowing the players to make their own stories or contributions sounds wonderful. Hopefully I'm getting the right impression though. If I am considered, I will PM you my discord details.
Hey Jormungandr, we'd love to have you! It sounds like you've got the right idea about these kinds of story games. I've sent over an invite, so let me know if you have any issues.
I am very sorry, but as much as I want to be able to join you guys, I am no longer sure I will be able to. I had some family stuff come up this weekend, and I feel like I need to keep my weekends open in case I am needed. I would hate to have to cancel last minute because something came up, so it is probably for the best if I bow out now. When this changes I'll get back in touch and if you still have room I'd love to join. Thanks so much.
Hey Matthew, sorry to hear that, but I certainly understand. I hope things get easier for you. It's absolutely a standing offer and you're welcome to stick around and hop in if you schedule opens up. I definitely intend for this to be a an open group with a flexible schedule so anyone is free to join and drop-in/drop-out if desired. With that being said, we're still happy to accept anyone else that might be interested.
