Dragging Spells from Compendium Issue

After bringing about all creatures from my Volo's Guide to Monsters add-on, I've begun to update them to bring about their compendium spells, adjust their sight to properly reflect darkvision [which I'm surprised isn't already done (by putting a '-5' in the "start of dim" radius to actually convert darkness to dim light instead of turning it two categories greater into bright light)] and otherwise make them generic tokens so they don't share bars 1/2/3. Anyways, the issue is that some creatures' NPC sheets aren't populating properly when I drag over spells from the compendium. What can I do to fix this without manually typing in the info for each spell?

No suggestion for the compendium issue, but I'll note that enabling darkvision on NPCs instead of just PCs will cause a dramatic drop in performance. This is why they are not set up with it.
Can you give an example on how the spells are populating incorrectly?

Dynamic lighting is an option to enable through pages, and light from creatures/objects/tiles isn't necessarily something that is 'enabled' per se. Semantics aside, I take it you have not applied VGtM to your game through an addon, because then you would know that the tokens already come prepared with light radii applied to them, albeit as what would equate to bright light. And that's not truly the issue at hand, that's just a note for the dev's in case they see this and think "Right, probs should have done that to start." I drag magehand from the compendium to the npc's spell section and nothing populates.
Same problem here with my character sheet. Just nothing going in. Dialog box appears saying accepting drop from compendium, but nothing actually populates.
Just want to make sure that you are not using popped out character sheets. Drag-and-drop does not work for popped out character sheets since the character sheet is no longer considered to be on the VTT.
I Have found that spells weren’t populating on some occasions as well. I exited and reentered the game and it didn’t reoccur.

Did you actually exit the game fully and then re-enter?
