Hello, beginning to search for new players interested in playing a Danganronpa murder mystery game. I’ve run 3 Danganronpa campaigns to completion before this one, so this will be my 4th round of running the killing game. The game is more rp-focused & is primarily done with a diverse range of talented characters, so killing and investigating are entirely player driven. The game is several parts slice-of-life as well as psychological horror when the right moments hit. Things to know: Group Size: Up to 10 players (+ a few observers) First Session: 3/16/2018 Each player gets 2 characters. 1 female student & 1 male student. I will be utilizing dynamic lighting as well as a few API scripts. Discord is required for ooc voice and some ic text. The system is homebrewed and made specifically for Danganronpa. What I am looking for: Players who will make the commitment to make it to the game weekly Players who absolutely disdain meta-gaming Players who like inter-character story & development Social players who aren’t just going to try to one-player mode through the game. - FAQ - Why do you do text chat for IC? Because there are so many characters, I use discord & roll20 text chat for discussion. If it were done through voice then only one person could talk at a time. Additionally, in a game like this, having records is extremely crucial for investigations & trial. Why do you still ask for voice chat for OOC then? The reason I ask for voice still is because I want players to still interact with each other ooc, it’s easy to talk & laugh without disrupting the game because typing & verbal speech are separate. If you are interested please post with the following info below. Presume I am still looking unless I have posted otherwise: Age: Timezone: Little about yourself: Familiarity with Danganronpa: RPG Experience: Questions for GM: -GAME IS FULL-

Well, consider my interest tickled. Age : 22 Timezone : Eastern European time, GMT +2 (Finland) Me : I am a loner at heart and somewhat socially deprived. Place me in the shoes of a character, and I'll do my damndest to do them justice and give them life. I am fairly punctual and my time is very flexible(as is my nightmare of a sleep schedule). Familiarity : Moderate. I am fairly familiar with the series, it's concepts and themes, though I have not actually played any of the games personally(yet). I do love the series though. Experience : Fairly new. I have played a few games, and am quick to pick up things, given enough to work with. Questions : Nothing comes to mind, really. I'm good for anything, really, so nothing urgent jumps out. I leave this for your consideration.
Age: 19 Timezone: UTC GMT +-0 (United Kingdom) Little about yourself: I'm a passionate dude from Scotland that loves to put my all in most everything I do, I really want to get more involved with role playing and making characters in general. Familiarity with Danganronpa: Absolutely in love with the series, I've seen all of every game and watched all of 3, I haven't really checked out any of the extra stuff like the manga's or the novels, it's one of those series I can just think about forever. RPG Experience: In terms of game experience I've played several times and understand most systems fairly well, in terms of roleplaying I've done it quite a bit here and there but haven't had much long form experience with a single character. Questions for GM: I'd mostly just want to ask if there's any characters or concepts they'd like to see in their game in particular, and also if there's anyway to see any of the previous campaigns or write ups of them?
Age: 23 Timezone: MTZ ( Alberta ) Little about yourself: I'm both a writer and a roleplayer with a love for creating characters and building up IC relationships! I'm fond of doing daft voices and tend towards the creepy or humorous.  Familiarity with Danganronpa: Introduced to the franchise by a close friend, and we played through 2 together. I've since gone back through 1 and the supplementary games to fully familiarize myself with the series. I've read the manga, light novel and watched DanganRonpa 3. I'm still playing through V3, but have some experience with roleplaying as characters both from the games and my own Ultimate OCs. RPG Experience: Very, fond player of both DnD and Fate along with DMing experience. Tend to favor roleplay over game systems so this feels ideal. Questions for GM: How exactly will the systems work? Assuming there's two characters per player, that puts us way over the normal amount of DanganRonpa characters if there's 10 people.

Age: 25 Timezone: Eastern US GMT -5 (New Hampshire) A Little Bit About Myself: Boy, this is the one tough category, huh? I guess I'd say I'm a passionate and enthusiastic person who likes to make jokes and jam about story stuff! I'm just in it to have fun, explore interesting characters and scenarios, and indulge in some more Dangan Ronpa goodness! I am always on-time and take scheduling stuff very seriously! Familiarity with Danganronpa: Oh man, I won't shut up about Dangan Ronpa. I've played DR1, SDR2 (my personal favorite), Ultra Despair Girls, and NDRV3, and I've watched all of the 3 anime several times, along with the anime for 1. I've also read the manga adaptation of 1, and read all of the light novels and manga anthologies that there are readily available translations for (Obviously Dangan Ronpa 0 is a must-read!). I've even created a few of my own Danganronpa OCs and ran some RPs based on the series. RPG Experience: Very experienced with tabletop RPGs, and video games of course. I really enjoy systems and games that allow me to focus on the RP and character aspects, but obviously the game-y stuff is a lot of fun too! Questions for the GM: I'm mostly curious as to how murders and investigations work. I mean, what if a player sincerely comes up with the perfect crime? Or, what if it's, y'know, kind of upsetting if someone's character gets killed? I guess just the finer points like that make me wonder how it'll all go down, while making sure it's fun and interesting for everyone!

Sounds awesome! Age: 18 Timezone: GMT +/- 0 [U.K.] About Me: I'm currently a university student working on a Game Development course, doing Audio & Writing for games. Music and video games are pretty much the two things I center my life around; no regrets . Uh... hard part, describing my personality: I'm pretty loud in general, will always rely on bad jokes to break the ice between people, and am notorious for being super easy to make laugh. I try to get everyone involved as much as possible, as I only have fun when others are having fun, too. I like to try new things (even if it's out my comfort zone) in general when it comes to Tabletop gaming, and I'm never embarrassed to do things like stupid voices. In general, though, I just like to entertain others, and I hope I'll be able to do that with whatever characters I play.   Danganronpa Familiarity: Played V3 first (shame on me!) followed by 1, and then 2. Bit of a strange order, but it still mostly didn't spoil things for me, and I had a great time playing it with friends and have become kind of obsessed with it as a result. I tried watching the anime (DR3), but it just didn't really hit the spot for me at all, and I stopped watching early. I feel like the games being interactive sort of 'make' the Danganronpa experience, and I'm really excited to try out what it'd be like in tabletop form. RPG Experience: Quite a bit! Have been playing a lot of loads of different one-shot campaigns with a group recently, and have commonly been a player/GM for a bunch of stuff in the past. RPG's that aren't entirely combat-focus and instead focus around character interaction/psychological stuff are usually my favorites.  Questions for the GM: When would you like the character sheet (if there is a character sheet, that is) done by? Do characters have anything like stats, or will it literally just be who they are/what they look like/their SHSL talent, etc? Additionally, will we be sticking to the traditional Danganronpa style with Japanese names, or are we allowed to mix it up a bit? Will there be an Ultimate ???, and if there's a mastermind, how will it be determined who the MM is?
Age: 18 Timezone: EST / GMT -5 Little about yourself: Im super in to board games and table top RPGs, as well as video games. I love puzzles and figuring things out, which was why I was originally drawn to the Danganronpa series. I like to write and create things as well. I have dabbled in learning so many different things that at this point I wish I had just stuck to learning how to do one thing.  Familiarity with Danganronpa: I have played all of the games / watched the anime of the main stories. I haven't read the novels yet, but I plan to get to it eventually. RPG Experience: I have played lots of D&D, and am currently DMing two 5e games. I have GMed games of FATE in the past as well. I tend to like story and character building over combat when playing, but as the DM I think both are equally fun. Questions for GM: Im super interested in how the system works. Im currently homebrewing a story arc in one of my 5e games that im currently calling Dungeonronpa and its tough to figure out how to make it work. I have the liberty of controlling most of the characters, so its easier for me to create an investigation with a planned way for it to go. i would be really interested in hearing more about your RPG system even if I dont get accepted into the game.

Oh, wow, I didn't expect so many people to be interested. I'm going to leave the post up for 5 days before I start officially adding in players to give people a chance to see but I will answer the questions you guys have. @Bruce T. I don't exactly have any write-ups for the past campaigns that'd be easy to link here since more of it was in roll20 chat or in massive discord logs, if you have some specific examples you want to see, then I can get you those, otherwise the only other option I have is seeing how to show you the chatlogs from past games. Character concept I want to see... this one is a bit challenging to answer because the character I want to see is sort of in ways, a detective. I treat the entire game as an actual mystery, so under absolutely no circumstances do I give easy answers, I especially dislike it when people try to roll at the situation in order to get answers. - Example - Bad: "I roll to see if the lock has been tampered with" Good: "I look for scratches on the lock or check if its gotten looser" Coming up with what to look for, so I like seeing critical thinking & problem solving skills but this is also reliant on the player, not just the character alone. @Elliot H. The system is a basic pool of skills you spend points at the beginning of the game to buy for. A sheet rolls the dice based off rank in that skill. The system is really light-weight & effecient because of the number of players it acts as a referee instead of all-encompassing so the game can keep going. I've ran this game twice with 9 players instead of 8, the only thing that changed was the game length. I have people helping me with certain things this time so it should be even easier to GM than before Sorry I couldn't elaborate much on the system but its rather basic & the game is more focused on RPing than the mchanics. @Sebastion L. If a character comes up with the perfect plan & wins, then they win. Even in the one instance where the game ended because a character did, there wasn't absolutely 0 evidence. Nearly every instance of murder something unaccounted for is left behind or a person's story has not been 100%. If worse comes to worse, it is possible to lose the game, thats part of the horror in danganronpa. If people focus on the wrong clues, or believe lies too easily, thats how they waste time & has been the most destructive ways to lose quickly. I have use most people in the current group twice & no one has had a problem with their characters dying, a few have died to motives & not just motives but even then it was justified on the character's actions & not arbitrary, half of them are playing monokubs right now so half the players will be people I know who won't get bitter about character death. Its danganronpa after all, if the risk of losing a character is too much then this is the wrong game. How a "night cycle goes" is how murders work. After the day phase ends & it is night, all RP moves to discord private channels, times moves along passively so about 40 minutes later the night cycle will end & characters get up for the morning to go do their thing. If someone did something last night, then they'll most likely find out then. Investigations tend to get handled differently depending on the number of characters that are still alive but I typically divide them up into groups, characters are able to talk & move freely during investigation periods but are only allowed one die roll per their group's turn. Note, that die roll is more of spending time on a specific thing, if theres bloody writing on the wall I won't make you roll to read something thats easy to see. Hope this answered your questions. @Jake W. Not asking for character sheets yet, its more of a thing I start discussing when I have the entire group of players ready since I like everyone to be synced to the same page as the game gets set up. Characters do have stats, the sheet is pretty basic but the stats are meant as a rough outline of the character's capabilities so its nothing is just 'made-up' or 'guesstimated' there is a gauge on character abilities, I would like more options in regards to mechanics but that takes up too much time in a game like this, keeping it as simple as to asking for a specific roll only takes a second than having to recalculate things. I'm lenient on allowing foreign students, if you're going with a japanese student then stick with japanese naming conventions. There wil be no ultimate ??? I make no comment on wether there is or isn't a mastermind among the group or how they are chosen. Hope this answers your questions.

Age: 18 Timezone: GMT (GMT+0) A Little about myself: I'm a senior in high school, and I'm planning to join the US Air Force out of college (AFROTC in college). I'm undergoing pilot training IRL, and I hope to get my private license soon. If you want to talk about anything airplane related I'm your guy (almost a SHSL talent lmao). I love baseball, and traveling to new places. I enjoy mystery games and visual novels, which is how I discovered Danganronpa. I also love XCOM and I play some FPS stuff on the side. I'm an understanding and flexible person who gets on well with most people, and I'll make a few jokes here and there. Familiarity with Danganronpa: I've watched LPs of all of the games, and I've played 1, 2, and V3. I've seen DR3 the anime, and I'm generally very familiar with the lore (ignoring of course the confusion caused by V3's ending). I have read DR:IF, and a little of DR0, but I haven't read any of the other novels. RPG Experience: I have watched quite a few streams of DnD and I have built a character sheet or two, but I haven't actually played DnD. I don't know anybody IRL who is into it so I haven't had many opportunities before now, but I plan to get more into it when I head to college next year. I'm a fast learner and hard worker, so I could probably learn the ropes reasonably quickly. Questions for GM: A good amount of the many questions I had were answered in the above post. The main questions I still have are: will our two characters be played at the same time? Will our two characters be allowed to interact with each other? How helpful to new players will the GM and others running the game be? Should we attempt to do in-character voices for females if we aren't great at them? Will our sessions be recorded, and if not will we be allowed to record them?

Age: 19 Timezone: EST (eastern Standard time) About Me: I am currently a Freshman in college and a huge history nerd(its my major). I am a huge fan of basically all nerd stuff including Videogames, RPG's, Anime and to a certain extent comic books. If you need a guy who knows a ton about pop culture basically I know something about everything. I would consider myself fairly laid back in his ways and it takes a lot to annoy me or make me mad. Also I am a firm believer in punctuality being key so I'll most likely make sessions on time if not be a tad early. Danganronpa Experience: I have played to completion DR1 and 2 I am currently working through V3's post game.  I have watched the End of Hope's Peak anime and i will withhold my opinion on it for now. I have watched a play through of Another episode which overall was pretty cool. I know the plot and lore fairly well overall including V3's ending. Also worth mentioning I think I am currently attempting to run a DR killing game as well on this platform. RPG EXPERIENCE: I have a fairly decent amount of experience with RPG's including but not limited to D&D 3.5 and 5th edition, Apocalypse World, Gurps and Fate. I have done a few terms as a GM including the aforementioned DR game and A fire emblem campaign which I had just wrapped up. Currently I am also involved in an IRL D&D Game with some friends at school. Questions for the GM: Honestly there are not too many questions that I have not already asked you.
@Zach C. This is assuming you're trying to play a DR game with the 5e system, if you're doing a DR-style scenario within a 5e campaign then thats different & I have no idea what lays beyond those waters. In my opinion, 5e wouldn't come close to being good for Danganronpa, the only benefit to it that I can see is familiarity but in all other aspects its not really fit for slice of life like DR since you're not going to use 80% of the class features & abilities in Danganronpa, what you will use are specifically skills which is what I did with my game, no classes, just a set pool of attributes, a list of skills you point-buy dice for. Again, if you're just using a DR-scenario & not playing DR itself as a tabletop, ignore what I just said. Currently I'm trying to think up whats a good way to get people to keep up with how the game runs since I've had quite a few people ask about keeping up with the system over the past few days so I'm considering making a discord channel solely for updating on the game system. @Jacob B. As for the two-character function, yes they are played at the same time, they are allowed at the same time there is just a massive rule on no meta-gaming which means they generally shouldn't be expected to support each other & neither should any knowledge one turn into a 'hunch' for the other, its pretty obviously when its happening & is probably the biggest rule I have in DR about running two different characters, the player has to understand how they translate into their own separate entities. I have 5 players who aren't playing within the killing game itself & are instead playing monokubs, without going into elaborate detail their primary job ooc is to help me with a few things but they will easily be able to help new players & when its not in the middle of a session I can answer questions as well. We don't do voices for characters, we do text, there's too many people to do voice for the game & it would be too slow doing 1 character at a time. I am currently not planning on recording sessions, I don't mind recording but I cannot say the same for all players since I haven't asked them recently.
