[DM LFG] Welcome to the Family (5E D&D)

"Right, you there! By order of her Majesty Queen Rambaut Arrendur, Governor Alexander Tinshod, and Captain Percival Kenobez, you are hereby transferred to Seven Stones Rehabilitation Camp, to begin re-acclamation into our great society provided you are deemed worthy by its warden, physician, and other such members of staff. Come peaceably, and I'll let 'em know you're a good dog." Thank you for checking out this listing. My Name is Jack, and I've been DMing for several years. My last 5E campaign went under a few months ago, and I'm finally ready to start a new one in a homebrew world of my own creation; Edaulera, the Broken land. Edaulera is a wartorn continent split into 5 major empires, where racial tensions from a 50 year long war still linger despite the war having ended 150 years ago. You will begin on a prison convoy in the Human-led Kingdom of Arrendur, currently moving through a small swamp. This is going to be a story-focused intrigue heavy campaign, with less combat and dungeon delving, and more political backstabbing and negotiations. I've been developing Edaulera since my last game went under, I even have a few new subclasses and a new race! Technical stuff: Games will be every* Saturday starting around 8:00 PM EST (the time can shift if necessary, but Saturdays are my only open day.) starting either the 24th or the 3rd, depending on how things go. We will be using Discord for voice communications, and possibly video as well if everyone is okay with that. I am looking for a total of 4 players, possibly 5. We will be starting with a "session 0" to develop our characters together and let everyone get to know one another. A decent microphone is MANDATORY. Homebrew from outside PHB, DMG, XGtE, and Volo's is allowed, but must be run it by me first. We will begin at Level 3. I am open to new players, but you do need to know the rules. As long as you know what a bonus action is and what it's used for, you should be fine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you are interested, post below and/or send me a PM (PM will probably work better). I will be conducting short interviews over discord with applicants as time allows. Please let me know the following. - Your first name (which I will forget.) - Your Pen & Paper experience - What you like in a DM - A little about a character you've played before, and what made them fun for you. AND/OR a character you'd like to play. - Your favorite food. (Mine's Chicken bacon pasta with ranch sauce!) Thank you for reading. I hope we'll get to be great friends and have a long fruitful adventure through Edaulera together. Your possible future DM - Chocl8215 aka Jack.
Hey there Jack! Your world sounds awesome to me, and I'd love to know more. Here's the info you requested. 1. My first name's Ken 2. I've been playing pen & paper games for 15 years or so, probably closer to 16. A lot of that is D&D 3rd Edition and then Pathfinder. I played a little bit of 4th Edition, didn't really love it, and have only played a few games of 5th. 3. Someone who makes everyone feel important to the group and not just a cog in the machine of "combat, rest, combat, repeat." I like to flesh my characters out an insane amount, and I love a DM who will remember at least some of it (the important stuff at least) and make it a part of the game and not just flavour text. 4. One of my favourite characters I played was in 4th Edition with a Warden Minotaur named Kaz (in that homebrew world Minotaurs were a more beastial race); Kaz was honourable and noble, cast out from his family and found a new one with unlikely folk. He sought to fight against the rage within him by fostering his mind; he loved puzzles, reading, and learning all he could about religions, nature, and the history of the world. I've got a ton of other characters I'd love to play, all of whom are fairly well developed like that. 5. Favourite food is probably pizza, a nice New York style slice. Though I do love ramen.
- Call me Chris, or Sol.  -10ish years playing 3.5 & WoD - Ideally a flexible DM who can roll with the punches from the players. As players we should expect to be crushed and humiliated if we step too out of line. DM's rules overrule any other rules or books. - I can pick pretty much any personality or RP flavor. Generally they tend to be over exaggerated tropes of character types. I like to RP fun characters and group dynamic than combat any day. Currently im working on a hermit-ish druid who has been obsessing over a "Sacred text" that was delivered to him by eldritch horrors. He obsesses over number sequences and texts. He is forbidden from opening it, and is trying to find leads back to these Deep Ones he secretly worships.  HOWEVER. The text is a garbage scroll with no actual power, or substance. Also he's NEVER had any sort of encounter with deep ones, and is just overall a lunatic.  -My favorite food is generally the free kind of food. Also, the all you can eat kind.
- Your first name Jesse - Your Pen & Paper experience I've been playing 5e for about 2 and a half years (I guess that's fairly new in TTRPG terms) - What you like in a DM I like a DM that enjoys what they do because that makes the game 10x more enjoyable for everyone participating. - A little about a character you've played before, and what made them fun for you. AND/OR a character you'd like to play. I've been wanting to play this Kenku Warlock I made named Whisper Beak that focuses on mind altering spells. I love campaigns that focus more on the roleplaying aspect of D&D because I enjoy acting and really getting into character rather than just mindless battles and fighting - Your favorite food. A good taco specifically street style from a food cart or something is great
