New with some n00b questions.

As a GM you drop images that you want to represent your PCs on the Token layer. You can position these however you want. Once your players join your campaign, their user names will be available to assign to tokens. You need to go to a token's settings to assign "controlled by" to whomever player that token is suppose to represent. When you want to add PCs to a new page (map), you can do this in two ways. If you link a PCs token to their character journal, you can drag the character journal to the tabletop to instantly add a new copy of that Token on the new page. You can also select all your tokens. Copy them and then paste them to the new page. Character sheets are best handled in a separate document, either on a PDF or Google Document or on a character sheet database like Obsidian Portal or Myth Weavers. Carry over the commonly used attributes and roll formulas from a character sheet to a Roll20 character journal for macro handling.
