Confused by OGL Character Sheet

Looking at one of my players in my first campaign (a level-1 cleric). Stats: Str: 13/1 Dex: 9/-1 Con: 15/2 Int:14/2 Wis: 15/2 Chr: 10/0 My issue is with spell save DC. The formulas I found online show the following:  Spell save DC = 8+ your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier These calculate to: Spell save DC = 8 + 4 +2 = 14 Spell attack modifier = 2 + 2 = 4 However, in the OGL template the auto calculated numbers without any magical items are: Spell save DC = 12 Spell attack modifier = 4 The Save DC is wrong. Have I missed something?
The save DC is calculated correctly. From the formula  Spell save DC = 8+ your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier You would get 8 + 2  (proficiency bonus of a level 1 character) + 2  (Wisdom modifier from a 15 Wisdom score), so 8 + 2 + 2 = 12 . You can also confirm that this is correct because the only difference between a character's spell save DC and their spell attack modifier is 8 . You calculated your spell attack modifier to be +4  (2 from proficiency and 2 from the Wisdom modifier). So your spell save should have been 12, not 14.

Thansk Kyle. Under the Savings Throw section the Wisdom and Charisma boxes are checked. Wisdom is a +4. Doesn't that become the Prof bonus or is that mean't to be the total save bonus e.g. 2+2 = 4? -Jason

The checked box indicates that you are proficient in the save , hence the 2+2=4 bonus in that save type. What do you mean with "Doesn't that become the Prof bonus?" Are you unsure about how the proficiency bonus works in general or how it affwcts some rolls too?
So should the save be the calculated 12 in the OGL sheet or the 14 I calculated which includes the additional proficient for his Wisdom save?

It would be weird to add you proficiency bonus two times to the same roll, as they don't ask for that. If your prof bonus would be 3 and your wisdowm the same 15, then you DC would be 8 + 3(prof bonus) + 2(ability bonus) = 13.
Jason D. said: So should the save be the calculated 12 in the OGL sheet or the 14 I calculated which includes the additional proficient for his Wisdom save? Ahh, there is the source of the confusion. Your spell save DC only uses your Wisdom modifier (+2) and your proficiency bonus (+2). A cleric is proficient in Wisdom saving throws  which is why it shows +4 (+2 from the modifier and +2 from your proficiency bonus). However, spellcasting ability (save DC and to hit with spells) is separate from saving throws and as Andreas says, it would be weird to use the proficiency bonus twice when calculating the spellcasting ability.
In essence your spellcasting ability determines how potent your spells are on others whereas your spell save modifiers are how resistant your are to someone else's spells.
Thank you!
