Hello, I'm no stranger to fx but the fx listed here https://wiki.roll20.net/Custom_FX do not work. Such as the death. /fx burst-death = nothing Ideally I'm looking for a ranged black slash fx, like a ranged slash attack with a scythe.

Did you have a Token selected when you tried fx burst-death ? My initial answer is, set your burst-death as a Token Action macro and trigger it with your token selected. A player would need a token selected for this, I think. Only a GM can control "Burst" with the mouse and wiggle-directions and extend duration by holding the mouse button. Note that some of the effect will be hidden behind your Token, to your view but not to others, because a Token controlled-by a Player is made to appear on-top of FX and other tokens, so the player won't lose track of it behind other graphics. Some of the Special FX only work for GM, or work differently for GM, and are mouse-controlled (follows mouse pointer, responds to duration of how long GM holds down the mouse button). Some Special FX are able to be used by Players, sometimes with a "source" and sometimes a "target" incorporated into the command (the macro). Wiki docs that touch on this, https://wiki.roll20.net/Text_Chat#Special_Effects_... I'm testing on my end to see if I can answer this better. Someone else will be able to shed more light on this. I may reply again soon if I can replicate this and work around it.
I did have my token selected with the fx being used in a macro. Our GM could not use the death fx, can you?

In my game, both /fx burst-death @{target|Foe|token_id} and /fx burst-death @{selected|token_id} do work correctly. Mind you, it's not a black slash effect, but rather a center bubble and then an explosion. Perhaps there was a glitch at the time you were trying the effect? To get a slash, your gm would probably have to make a custom effect. Perhaps something starting with https://wiki.roll20.net/FX_Library#Flame_Dart and changing the colors to match the death effect colors? You/your gm would have to play around with the rest of the parameters to see how to get it to look more slash like.

Yes, I was able to use burst-death in testing (both as GM and logged in as Player in my own game). My account is Pro. I can move this to Bugs & Technical Issues forum, if you think it is a bug, and we can start the usual troubleshooting steps there. Might be best to have your Pro GM participate in the thread, to diagnose this.

Without that last part the fx death wouldn't work for me.
