[LFG][D&D5e] Storm King's Thunder (CET; Gauging Interest)

Hi there everyone! My name is Tom, I have 17 years of experience with both playing and running games, and lately, I started thinking... Hey, you know what I'd love to run? This kind of... Epic campaign in the liking of Baldur's Gate saga. Starting low, personal, more as a nice adventuring story with some ominous background, but growing into huge, world-saving (of sorts) scenario. I run SKT live, I have some experience with the first more sandbox part of the campaign, but for scheduling reasons, I had to unfortunately stop. I miss it sooooo much . And decided, that it may be the time to run this game, or at least attempt to, on roll20. Thing is, for now, I don't really have much details. I want to run the full game, as available here on roll20, but 50 bucks is not small money for me, and first I'd like to gauge interest, check if people I'd like to play with want to play this campaign. This means, that... Currently, there are not many specific details about the game. Only things I know are: Timezone:  Easy thing, when we start playing it will be CET. GMT/UTC+1. Form:  Either voice-only or text-only. The second one will be much easier to schedule. Frequency:  Either weekly or every two weeks (with the biweekly session being longer). Day:  The toughest one. In the weekly variant - Mondays or Fridays. In biweekly variant - add Saturdays. Time: Evening hours. I work shifts and sometimes weekends or nights, so there may be some rescheduling needed. Structure of the campaign: Focused sandbox at the beginning, with strong main plot appearing in the early middle of the campaign. How long would that go?:  As long as possible. Maybe even a year or more. This is a really long but satisfying campaign. Pay to play:  Absolutely not. Unless you will start throwing money at me for some reason. Why would you do that tho!? D:  What do I offer? First of all, lots of immersion. But not in numbers mind you. I do not care about how people get fed, how much a horseshoe costs, or things like that. I care about story. I care about people in the story. I care about feeling the weight of your choices, and feeling that these choices influence the world around your characters. I like encouraging deep roleplaying, not just spouting one-liners (though they are cool!), but creating relationships, friendships, maybe even romance! Sometimes combat would go completely narrative, as a series of cinematic challenges, not just sitting next to each other and rolling d20s hoping that someone will roll high enough to kill another guy. And also I don't care about who you are, everyone is welcome and everyone will get what they find exciting and fun in RPGs. I really admire treating my players as good friends, and being fan of their characters. And giving y'all awesome challenges to have as much fun as possible. This campaign is probably the best one that Wizards ever created, having both this oldschool feel of creating something with passion and heart, and modern approach to storytelling. I love it, I'd be happy to run it, but... Well, spending $50 for something and then not having players to run it would suck. Major. B... Lollipop. So... Now it's your turn guys and gals! Anyone interested, please introduce yourself, tell me what you think, do you long for a big, epic campaign? I sure hope so! HERE IS THE LISTING!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tom. I'm Mark and would like to play this campaign. I live in Denmark, so the time zone is perfect for me. I have played D&D for many years, back in the 90's, and really want to play again. I have run a couple of 5th ed. D&D games for my son and his friends. I like getting in character and roleplay and have a good time with that. I'm looking for a long term campaign, where the players can get to learn eachother. I'm not a big fan of the quick one time plays, where people jump on and off and where there is no history, if you know what I mean. On a weekly basis, Friday evenings works for me, from around 7 pm and bi weekly Saturdays are also cool :-) I'm considering a human rogue, and have already one ready, which I made on DnD Beyond today. He is level 1. Let me know if you want to see his stats ect. and I can send it to you through Discord, if you are on there. You are welcome to PM me if you see fit :-) Hope to be part of this :-) Mark
Hi Mark! (Oh goodness the puns and references...) Well, don't worry about a character for now :D I'm still doing a research, I won't be able to buy the roll20 campaign for next week and a half, so no rush, but thank you so much for replying. I see you are a veteran! That's really cool, and will definitely come in handy :D

Sounds good :D I have been trying to find a promising campaign/group/DM for some time now. My fingers are itching to get started, so I hope I can be part of this. I'm new to all this online stuff, but are getting the hang of it. I haven't played RPG's online before, so I hope you can bare with me :D. Roll20 is also new to me. Let me know if I can be of help or if you need more info. on me.
I am definitely interested :) ! I would be up for a biweekly saturday campaign as in the week it would be hard to be 100% sure I am available due to work. I am from Germany so timezone would fit very nicely. If we can make this work there is of course some fiddeling with available times and such but that would be up for discussion then. I would prefer voice over text but thats not a no go for me. I am a GM for DnD 5e myself and it would be fun to be a player.  If you require more info from me hit me up :)
Hi i would be up for a biweekly saturday campaign im in the est. I really do prefer text based games so i would love to do this. I have a reason for why i cant do text which is that my brother comes home for about 4 months a year and we essentially share a living space for that time anyways hit me up if youd like someone who is literally willing to play any class. now my only thing is that i cant play games after 7pm est due to a game i have starting at that time
Ive actually wanted to play in storm kings thunder for a long long time but due to my brother refusing to let me play in his group i never got the chance to play
Darknight, I will keep you posted, definitely :) Thore, hah, having fellow GMs as players is always good for business! :D I am still 50/50 on whether to run voice or text, so this is still in the air. Hi Sam, thanks for the input! Good to know that there are some enthusiasts of text based games!  I will bump the thread couple of times definitely, but it all looks pretty good!
Hello ! I am very intrested in the whole idea. I can play every weekend from friday to sunday , can use both text and voice chat and oh well i live in GMT+1 so time won't be a problem . There is only one thing i want to ask tho: Do you mind a person with little to none knowledge about D&D mechanics? (i mean i watched a few streams and read some stuff as im planning a game with friends but i don't know that much)
Well, I am always open to mentoring new players, but I hope you will be able to act independently of course :D I like my players being creative, rather then focusing at remembering all the rules.
Hi tom, I would be very interested in playing in this, but i would prefere to do voice over text. i have being playing 5e for about a year now, and live in the same time zone as you so that is not a problem for me. As for the day it i can't do thursday or saturday afternoon.
I would be interested in playing. I've played 5e on and off for about 2 years now, and I've DM'd a bit (though not this module). I'd be available Fridays or Saturday (I'm EDT), though I do prefer voice over text.
Hi guys! :D I am so happy for how active this thread is. I am already thinking about changing it to proper invite, but first I need to figure out the moneyz issue. Also!  I stated it in PM's but will restate it here. This is a 10000% LGBT/All Genders-friendly game!  Probably also all-ages, but let's say 16+ for communication matters : D
This sounds like a great game I would love to be a part of it. I'm on GMT time and I'm free in the evenings of everyday. Please keep me updated with everything.
Probably just following this thread will be more than enough :)
Id love to play! :)
Hello there! I am actually thinking about creating a proper listing for the game now. So many people wanting to play, aaaah!
Hey man Im not sure how many people your looking to run for but I would def be interested if it ends up being voice based my schedule also changes week by week but I can probabally request one day off specifically if needed.
I will take no more than 5 people, but I won't decide on it based on how fast someone replied :D
Cool well let me know how this turns out then ^^ and if/what day I would need to ask work to let me have off each week
Well, I will definitely post the listing here, so follow this thread and you wont miss the info :)
Hey, if you're not full up yet, I'm definitely interested. The exact timing might be a bit iffy, my work has odd hours, but if I can, I'd love to.
I would definitely love to play this campaign. Its been on my list along with ToA and PotA . I can do voice or text and biweekly is a great option. My timezone is GMT+2.
Finally created the game and  the listing !  I invite everyone to post applications! :D
