Drawing with the ruler

Is it somehow possible to save the arrow created by the ruler as an image on the map? When using the ruler you get an information on the distance in combination with the arrow. But after you stop holding the mouse button both the arrow as well as the distance disappear. If you want to draw a line with the same length afterwards you have to switch to the draw tools. First of all the arrow of the ruler and the line you want to draw snap to different positions of the grid, secondly you have to approximate the distance when drawing and hope you get it right. This is no problem if you want to draw a line a few squares long, but gets quite bothersome for longer lines. Is there some solution already present?

There isn't.  I bet you could write a script that would let you drag a token from one location to another and create a line and text for the distance.
