Starfinder Character Creation

I'm not sure which version the character sheet is.  It doesn't have a number I can find.  It does list paizo at the bottom though so I believe its the official. This is my first character being created via Starfinder. 1.  I'm creating a vesk soldier.  It has my initiative set at 3. (which is partially correct due to my 16 dex)  However I have the Soldier Primary Fighting Style (Blitz) who's level 1 technique is "Rapid Response" which gives me +4 initiative and +10 land speed.  How can I add this? 2.  For carrying capacity, as a Vesk I can have carrying capacity as 1 above my STR mod.  How do I add this and also how do I tell what my current encumbrance is?  Under equipment it has listed 4 carried, 9 encumbered, 17 with arrow going up in blue, 'over'.  So I'm assuming I am over, but that may be correct since I am not carrying too much. 3.  I put all my class features, racial traits and mercenary traits under "ABILITIES" however I dont think i've actually 'set' them up so they auto-work. 4.  One Last one: Under the drop down menu I added all of the equipment I have. Do I have to add anything different for weapons?  And I have all these large spaces between the listed equipment, how can I delete that space so it looks proper? thanks for any help you can provide for a newbie!
There is no official Starfinder sheet yet, Roll20's official sheet are listed under by "Sheets by Roll20" and they always mention they are official.

Hi crexis, is this the Starfinder hud? (Will say Starfinder HUD in the top left)? Based on number 4, I'm assuming it is. if it is, here are the answers to your questions: In your rapid response ability, open the mods section an put this in: +4 to initiative. The land speed you will need to just manually add to your speed. Similarly to 1, put this in the mods field of the vesk ability: +1 to overburden bulk If you mean so that the bonuses they apply happen, they work similarly to 1 and 2. There is a  user's manual for explaining all the features, and a user of the sheet is also working on a quick guide. Also drop by the  sheet's forum thread . If you added a weapon from the internal compendium, it should have created a weapon entry for you as well. You will need to set weapon specialization (or non proficiency) for the added weapon yourself. I'm not sure what you mean by the large spaces, can you share a screen cap of the issue? Hope that helps. See you out in the drift, Scott
Thanks for the help, questions 1 and 2 are done.  However where does it list what my current encumberance is? After I added weapons to equipment, it opened up an 'attacks' section abofe the equipment.  It lists the damage but not sure how exactly I'd use that in combat other then just double clicking the attack I choose? Under my health I put down my SP as 8 and HP as 13, but it lists it as SP: 8/9 and HP as 13/19 I added attachment showing what I see on my hud.  My first time attaching picture on this forum, hope you can see it clearly. Also on the 1st attachment, look at the equipment, it has all this extra space in between a lot of the different equipment.  Do you know how to get rid of that dead space? thanks!

Hmm, thanks for those images Crexis. That helps. Crexis said: Thanks for the help, questions 1 and 2 are done. However where does it list what my current encumberance is Your current carried encumbrance is shown in the top left of the equipment section (labeled carried). The two fields to the right of that are what encumbrance level would be encumbered and overburdened (they will be highlighted if you are one of them). After I added weapons to equipment, it opened up an 'attacks' section abofe the equipment.  It lists the damage but not sure how exactly I'd use that in combat other then just double clicking the attack I choose The sheet sets up your attack macros for you either based on the stats of the item you selected from the internal compendium or based on information that you can enter into the attack. You can either click on the attack button (only a single click is needed), or click your attacks menu to output a chat menu of all your attack options to chat (this menu button can be dragged down to your macro quick bar if you have it turned on). Under my health I put down my SP as 8 and HP as 13, but it lists it as SP: 8/9 and HP as 13/19 The fields in the class details section are for what your per level stats from your class are, so you would only put the amount of hp/sp/skills that you get per level, not your total. The sheet will then calculate your total based on your constitution mod, level, and any mods applied. EDIT: Note that there is a field in character info for you to put your racial hp in Also on the 1st attachment, look at the equipment, it has all this extra space in between a lot of the different equipment.  Do you know how to get rid of that dead space? Hmm, not sure what's going on there. I haven't gotten an error report of this before. Mind if I ask for some additional information? What browser are you using?  And I'm blind, you're using chrome based on your screen grabs What OS are you using?  Also blind for this one apparently, since your windows 10 start bar is in the screen grabs Have you updated your OS/Browser recently? Do you have any extensions active (particularly things like stylish that affect how web pages are displayed) Do you have any text in the description field for your second skin or serum of healing? Can you right click one of those blank spaces and select inspect element? Then post a screencap of the html inspector that pops up?

My equipment it has listed 'over' 18 with arrow pointing up in blue.  As shown in my 2nd picture.  But it says 'carried 4' and I shouldn't have too much weighed equipment as I just bought 1000 credit worth of level 1 things.  Also I have Grunt Vesk Trait +1 to STR carrying capacity - how do I add that? 5.  Do you have any text in the description field for your second skin or serum of healing? I have nothing in the description or 'MODS ATTACHER' for second skin or serum of healing. Not sure how to get rid of all those blank spaces. 6. Can you right click one of those blank spaces and select inspect element? Then post a screencap of the html inspector that pops up? Here's what I screencapped:

Could you vault this character into this game . I'll take a look and see what's up.
How do I vault characters into another game?

First join the game (just click the link to become a player in the game). Then go here: You'll then import a character into your vault from your game (all users can store characters in their games). Then you can export it to the problem starfinder characters game where I can then access it and get a look at what is going on. Gif of how to vault.
Ok the character i exported to 'problem huds' is called Crexis.  Hope that works

Hi Crexis, The empty space in your equipment section are actually empty items that have been minimized. You can remove them by clicking the lock icon in the bottom right of the equipment section and then clicking the red trash can for each empty item.

Thanks I fixed the missing spaces in my equipment inventory! Under my equipment encumbrance it has highlighted in blue 18 with arrow up in the 'over' spot.  Don't see how I can have that much encumbrance though.  It does say '4' under carried but it isnt highlighted in blue. ‘Carrying Capacity’ → Grunt vesk trait +1 to STR carrying capacity - know where I can shortcut this for my carrying capacity? Mercenary theme knowledge: +1 to AC as racial bonus, and heavy armor AC penalty is 1 less - not sure how to shortcut/add this to my sheet. Asking again cause my game session is happening in 3.5 hours - I did ask DM to help set me up before session which got a 'maybe' so hopefully I'll be ready for it - thanks again for your help.

Sorry, missed those questions the first time around, The blue number and up arrow mean that that is buffed (so the point at which you would become overburdened is higher than base rules would imply. When you are actually encumbered/overburdened the entire field around that level of encumbrance will highlight. Based on the character that you sent me, you already have your grunt (and consumer backpack) carrying capacity buff in your sheet. For the vesk's armor savant racial ability, you would simply make an ability for armor savant. and then put +1 racial to ac  in the mods field of the ability. The acp modification will have to be done manually, but is just a matter of opening your armor equipment entry and changing the max dex line in its mods field. I'll also note that currently, you have the descriptions for your abilities in the save effect field of the ability instead of the description field. Not a game breaking issue, but just wanted to point it out.
I changed the +1 racial to AC and it worked! As far as the ACP mod, I opened up my armor "second skin" but didn't find any fields for 'dex', theres a 'mods' area but not sure what to put in there? Ok I changed some of the abilities section for the information from the 'save effect' to the bottom ''ATTACHER' / description (?) field.  Now it shows the descriptions on the abilities on the main sheet.  I changed for the first 3, is this the correct way of doing this?  I just 'imported' on character vault my updated sheet.  Should I continue doing this on the abilities section for the rest of the abilities? For my level 1 feat, should I just put it under the 'abilities' section? thanks again for the help man!

You would simply change the acp value line in the armor's mods field, although armor savant only decreases heavy armor acp. I'm away from my computer for a while, but it sounds like you've got the descriptions correct. The abilities section is for all your non spell character abilities.

"You would simply change the acp value line in the armor's mods field, although armor savant only decreases heavy armor acp." When I highlight 'second skin' in the equipment tab and open it up, it doesn't list an 'acp value line', just shows "MODS ATTACHER" along with 'num', ' bulk' and 'cost'. --- For the mercenary theme knowledge I get +1 to athletics rank (since its already a class skill) - I just added an extra rank to it, not sure if thats correct? I have 3 'attacks' listed: Tactical Pike, Needler Rifle and Unarmed Strikes which was auto-added when I put it under equipment but I'm unsure how I use these in battle.  I click on them and nothing really shows up so I definitely need to do something to make the attacks work but I'm totally lost as to what to do.  This is updated in the character vault. I'm almost done this character you've helped a tremendous amount!

When I highlight 'second skin' in the equipment tab and open it up, it doesn't list an 'acp value line', just shows "MODS ATTACHER" along with 'num', ' bulk' and 'cost'. right, so if you open your second skins mods field, you'll see several lines of buff notes in there one will reference acp (if second skin applies an acp). You would simply reduce the penalty by 1 if it was a heavy armor) --- For the mercenary theme knowledge I get +1 to athletics rank (since its already a class skill) - I just added an extra rank to it, not sure if thats correct? it doesn't add one rank, it gives you a bonus to the check, so you'd add +1 to Athletics in the mods field of your theme knowledge ability. I'm guessing you have your character sheet popped out. When you attack with a weapon, it will ask you if you are full attacking or not (you can change this behavior in the addl attack options of the attack). The query is always in the main vtt, not the popped out character sheet.
I opened up second skins mod field under 'equipment'.  I dont see any buff notes however just ''MODS ATTACHER" then says description underneath it.  Can't find this. However everything else I believe is done, thanks so much!

Hmm, sounds like you might have an issue with your browser. There should be a text area just like the description that opens up when you click on the mods button.
Yeah it definitely only shows the 'description' nothing else.  I'm using chrome. 1 other question, I added my feat 'mobility' to the bottom of my 'abilities' section.  Is there any way I can move that feat ability name up closer to the top and not right at the bottom where I have my proficiencies listed?

Yep, click the lock icon, then you'll have a delete button for each entry on the right, and a movement handle on the left.
I got it moved, but seems very buggy.  I couldn't move it exactly where I wanted.  I tried clicking then move, i tried dragging, but nothing seems to work very good.  I've figured out most of this sheet tho, thanks to ur help!
Hey Scott, I just finished session #3 for starfinder society, so my character will be level 2 now.  I'm going to play in someone elses game.  Whats the easy way of exporting/importing the character b/w diff games?

The only way to do it (short of remaking the character everytime) is to use the character vault like you did to send me the character for troubleshooting. This does of course require either you or the creator of the game to be at least a plus level account, or for the game to be created using one of the modules that includes the full access vault as a feature.

I exported the character to my vault then I imported the character to my game for tommorow and it said 'success!' but when I opened up my character sheet it had the small few words I had listed under Bio & Info but under my character sheet nothing came over, it was all left blank.  Any ideas on what I could do? It looks like the actual sheet for the 2 different games are not the exact same.  They are using different character sheets so in that case I guess my only option is to remake the character sheet.

Ah, yeah, if they're using the simple sheet, it won't work. Also, when you import, it creates a new character that is a copy of your vault character (the two do not stay in sync). The GM has to give you edit permission to the new imported character.
