A mini-map to navigate faster

It would be great if we had a mini-map that we can click on and navigate the map. That would minimize scrolling and panning for big maps. I think displaying only the background layer in mini-map would be enough. Thanks.
I still firmly believe that the existing scrolling metaphor is wrong, and that what is really desired is a Google Maps style "grab and drag" UI. Horizontal scrollbars are a UI disaster, and the existing interface really only works well on a Macbook (or a Linux touchpad configured for two-finger scrolling). Desktop computers and windows laptops are stuck with IMHO a pretty poor UI. It was pointed out that the developers use macbooks exclusively, which is why this hasn't been addressed.

I also have a macbook, and it would be likewise a comparative pain to click and drag around the map with the trackpad. Further, if you do this then to drag select tokens you'd have to resort to something like right-click drag, which can be hideous to do with a trackpad. Surely you could reach a compromise with some simple UI settings to turn on/off?
Resara: what do you do on Google Maps? I agree the existing interface works well on a Macbook. It kinda sucks on everything else. You disagree?
Why not have both options available? You can "google map" scroll with a mouse or trackpad scroll without having to toggle anything.

If I just wanted to create a system that worked well for myself and my friends, we wouldn't even be here, because I already made that. The only reason we're even having this discussion right now and there is even such a thing as "Roll20" instead of "that thing Riley made that we use to play D&D" is because we're trying to create something that works well for lots of folks, not just us. That being said, this is already at the top of my to-do list, and it should be completed soon.

Just curious, how does a Mac book fix/change the issue?
@Ezra they have a multitouch trackpad, so two fingers on the touchpad will let you scroll in any crazy direction you want. Also to be of note: Anyone with a fairly recent Logitech mouse should be able to use the scroll wheel for left right scroll (that's what I do until it gets overhauled)
My scrollwheel just lets me scroll up/down the pages, it doesn't have any lateral clickiness and using shift/alt/ctrl + zoomwheel just does weird things... could re-assign the buttons but that's just faffy and involves remembering where the drivers are. I'm sure I had the arrow keys working for scrolling around the screen the day before yesterday, haven't been able to replicate it though so I'm beginning to think I imagined it in some sort of energy-drink induced trip.

If you click on a blank section of map you can arrow key scroll (at least, I can)
