New to DnD; looking for a good group

Hello, my name is Gabriel G and I'm 21 y/o. I've been looking for ways to get into DnD but it's been hard finding local groups in my area and I don't have any friends who are interested in trying it out, so I thought I'd check out online options and lo' and behold, here I am. I'm familiar with the basics of DnD mechanics and have participated in a few brief sessions at parties before, but am hoping to get into a more intensive group.  I don't have any expectations or requirements, besides having a lot of fun!   I'm in the EST time zone and have most availability on weeknights and weekends. Sample Character Concept: A halfling warlock named Simon, a quiet, soft spoken creature who was born with an innate connection with one of the Great Old Ones, although he does not know its identity. Cast out of his home village after the maddening whispers he emanates drove his fellow halflings insane, he wanders the lands, learning to gain control over his eldritch connection and bottle up the whispers inside.
What time zone are you in? And were you looking for a long-term campaign?
Luke said: What time zone are you in? And were you looking for a long-term campaign? I'm EST, and depends what you mean by long-term. If I enjoy the group I don't have problems committing to a long campaign.
I just ask because I have a discord group where we do more random one shots because we don't have enough time to do a regular campaign or meet at a set time every week/every other week.  We've been together for half a year or so and have done a campaign and like I said do one shots here and there. If that sounds fine to you, you have questions, or just want to check us out, feel free to PM me!
That could work, but I was hoping for more of a consistent group to get deep into a thing.  Random one-shots could be more practical for now though.
That's fine, that's totally up to you.  We did just have a guy that's very new to D&D join and we're hoping to be able to have a "session 0" sometime soon with him in order to teach character creation and help get a feel for the game.  I (or someone else if they're willing) will probably be able to simulate a small combat encounter as well and be around to answer other questions if anyone's got them.  Nothing too serious or in depth but at least help you guys become more familiar with the game. And like I said, if you'd be interested, there's no commitment or anything, we don't even have to be the main group you play with or anything but if you would like to join our discord, we can let you know of stuff we try to do, like the info session and stuff, or else a one shot where if you haven't joined a campaign or anything yet, you can get your feet wet!
Well there's no harm in trying it out.  Pass me a link.
