So Book II has begun – a bit hit and miss and a bit rusty but it’s a start. Book Two, Chapter 1.1 (session 28, 19 th October 2017) You depart Waterdeep, escorted by Captain Lugoth and his Griffon Flight on borrowed hippogriffs, on 4 th Nightal, arriving at Boarskyer Bridge later that evening. You interviewed Bolo, the local innkeeper who recalls a dwarf in purple robes in the settlement about 5 or 6 days ago. He was memorable because he was asking for guides into the Serpent Hills and then shanked the only person to offer right in the tavern. This made him a bit of a hero to the locals as the ‘guide’ turned out to be a yuan-ti pureblood. When pushed Bolo also recalled that the dwarf was accompanied by a dozen or so robed and hooded attendants who were very quiet and still, waiting outside for him. The dwarf then left without a guide into the hills. You also talked to Commander Yogosh, the senior officer at Fort Tamal an Eltugard outpost. He knew nothing of the dwarf other than the rumour he’d killed the yuan-ti – he was very much of the mindset that the only good yuan-ti is a dead yuan-ti (and there was evidence of this hanging from the walls of Fort Tamal). He was of little help, and seemed pretty uninterested in your endeavour – when pushed he did recall that one of his younger paladin soldiers had reported sensing a number of fiends in the area about 6 days or so ago. He didn’t seem to think much of that and claimed he’d done nothing about it. You then left for the hills, Franz successfully tracking a large party easily enough. Carharvalios noted that occasionally some of the tracks displayed odd large claw marks as if something non-human was in the group. Dilon eventually bought a horse and mule when his attempt to coerce continued use of hippogriffs was rebuffed by Captain Lurgoth. A long and difficult journey across very arid, very rough terrain eventually ended at the Tomb of Diderius on the afternoon of 8 th Nightal – Mads recalled some lore about it being some kind of very ancient oracle site. You found evidence of campsite near a dried up well and a number of shallow graves at the entrance. You entered the tomb, making it past some statue guardians and then fought a strange tile-chimera that rose from the floor of a chamber, found another dried up well with a basin and lever that seemed to do not much but was covered in slimy blood-red mushrooms. At this point you found all your water had evaporated and your food turned mouldy and bad. You followed a small side passage that headed down into the darkness. Mads triggered a trap and you were chased down the passage by a huge fused ball of bones, that shattered in the large chamber below. XP earnt is now irrelevant as the rest of ToD is based on milestone XP. In-Game the session ended at 14:30 on 8 th Nightal.
