Having descended into the heart of the iceberg and spent some
time exploring using Naergon’s arcane eye spell, the party decided on a course
of action – to investigate the large tent to the south west in the hopes that
Maccath would be there.
Carefully exploring the dark and dimly lit corridors, slipping
and sliding on the icy floors, the party encountered a couple of groups of
kobolds and two or three ice trolls on the way but eventually arrived at the
large tent.
Inside sat Maccath, researching and writing up her discoveries,
enslaved to the dragon but thrilled to be so close to so much knowledge and
resigned to making the best of the situation. Maccath seemed fatalistic of the
party’s ability to rescue her but agreed to the attempt provided the dragon could
be neutralised – any attempt to sail away from the iceberg with Arauthator
still capable of pursuit was doomed in her opinion.
She led you to the archive scriptorium where the dragon’s
collection of books, scrolls and research material was stored. Here she handed
out a number of scrolls that contained spells as well as some magical items she
had manufactured whilst in the iceberg [ring of cold resistance, 2 arrows of
dragon slaying]
The party is discussing how best to deal with the problem
XP earnt is now irrelevant as the rest of ToD is based on
milestone XP. No levels were gained this session.
